She puts the “bi” in bi-con – Lady Gaga is back! Her new album, MAYHEM, comes out this week. It is her seventh studio album and, needless to say, we’re excited.
Ahead of the new album, here are some facts you may not know about Lady Gaga…
Her screen debut was in an AC/DC music video
The future superstar first graced our screens in 2000, aged just 14. Gaga must have been destined for the music industry as, almost a decade before she would make her own music videos, she appeared in the background of rock band AC/DC’s music video for their song Stiff Upper Lip.
She is the first woman to win an Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globe and Grammy in one year
Back in 2018, Lady Gaga dazzled the world as Ally in A Star Is Born. Not only was she nominated for Best Actress at the following Oscars, but her contribution to the soundtrack, particularly the song Shallow, earned her an award for Best Original Song.
The same year, she also won a BAFTA for Best Film Music, a Golden Globe for Best Original Song In A Motion Picture, and two Grammys for Best Pop Duo and Best Song Written For Visual Media. This made her the first woman to win at all four awards shows in the same year.
The only other woman to do so is Hildur Guðnadóttir, who won the awards in 2020 for her work on Joker.
She is the only female artist to have four singles each sell at least 10 million copies globally
This proves how much the world loves Lady Gaga. Having sold an estimated 170 million records, she is one of the best selling artists of all time. She is also the only female artist to have four singles sell over 10 million copies each.
Those songs are: Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, and her Oscar-winning song Shallow.
She has fibromyalgia
Eight years ago, Gaga revealed she has a chronic pain condition called fibromyalgia. The condition, which can cause chronic pain, fatigue, sleep difficulties, depression and anxiety, was a part of her documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two.
The singer also posted about it and why she went public on Twitter (now known as X): “I wish to help raise awareness and connect people who have it. We can all share what helps/hurts.”
She’s set to appear in the next season of Wednesday
Having been on American Horror Story, we’re well aware of how well-suited Lady Gaga is to spooky TV shows. Thankfully, we’re set to see a lot more of her soon, as she is set to be in season two of Wednesday, Netflix’s show about the Addams Family daughter.
The news was announced in November last year, but as of yet, Gaga’s exact role is being kept tightly under wraps.
