Brandi Carlile fans, rejoice! The singer-songwriter is back with a new album, recorded in collaboration with Elton John. The duo, who have been nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars this year, will release Who Believes In Angels? on 4 April.

The 10-track album was written and recorded in just 20 days in October 2023. The title track has already been released and a one-off concert will happen in March at The London Palladium, aptly called An Evening With Elton John & Brandi Carlile. Fans will have the chance to purchase tickets if they pre-order the album.

This isn’t the first collaboration between the two. They, along with Elton’s long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin, co-wrote Never Too Late. It is this track, which featured in the documentary Elton John: Never Too Late, that earned them an Oscar nod.

The album, written in just 20 days, will come alongside a short film that documents what went on behind the scenes during the recording process. According to the team, the film “offers fans an unprecedented, searingly honest insight into the emotionally turbulent creative process for Elton, Brandi and the rest of the team”.

In a sweet tribute, Brandi told fans that she had been singing with Elton for her whole life, but “he just didn’t know it”.

“I’ve been working and dreaming my way towards this moment since I was 11 years-old. Every album I’ve ever made has carried Elton’s name in the liner notes, my quiet thank you to the artist without whom I would never have written a song,” said Brandi. “It was impossible to imagine that one day, he’d not only be my hero, but probably my best friend.”

Who Believes In Angels? will come out on 4 April. An Evening With Elton John & Brandi Carlile will take place on 26 March at The London Palladium.
