While January may have crawled on by, we’re hoping that February is set to be a month full of excitement. This is partly due to the new releases set to hit the big and small screens. From action films to exciting new seasons of beloved shows, there is plenty to add to your watchlist this February.
Clean Slate
6 February
Clean Slate is a heartfelt comedy series starring Laverne Cox as Desiree, a trans woman who returns to her Alabama hometown after her New York City art gallery closes. Reuniting with her estranged father, Harry Slate (George Wallace), a traditional car wash owner, Desiree navigates the challenges of rebuilding their relationship while confronting small-town dynamics. The show delves into themes of acceptance, family, and personal growth, blending humour with poignant moments.
Love Hurts
7 February
Love Hurts is an action-packed comedy that marks Jonathan Eusebio’s directorial debut. The film stars Ke Huy Quan as Marvin Gable, a successful realtor in Milwaukee’s suburbs. Marvin’s tranquil life is disrupted when he receives a crimson envelope from his former partner-in-crime, signalling that his brother is hunting him. This revelation thrusts Marvin back into a world of ruthless hitmen, double-crosses, and open houses turned into deadly warzones. The ensemble cast includes queer icon Ariana DeBose.
Mom
11 February
Celebrated queer icon Emily Hampshire takes centre stage in the upcoming thriller Mom. The film delves into the harrowing journey of Meredith, portrayed by Hampshire, a mother grappling with profound grief after the loss of her newborn son. As she confronts her sorrow, Meredith becomes ensnared by a sinister entity born from her anguish, leading her through a relentless cycle of haunting memories. Mom promises a chilling exploration of loss and the supernatural, anchored by Hampshire’s compelling performance.
Yellowjackets season three
14 February
Yellowjackets is set to crash onto our screens with its highly anticipated third season premiering on 14 February – just in time for a wild Valentine’s Day. Two episodes will debut on Paramount+ with Showtime, with the drama heading to Showtime on 16 February.
Expect even more jaw-dropping twists as the fierce soccer team navigates the line between survival and savagery, both in the wilderness and in the present day. With its perfect mix of thrills, chills, and chaos, Yellowjackets is ready to keep us glued to the edge of our seats.
The White Lotus season three
16 February
Pack your bags and grab your passports – The White Lotus is jet-setting to Thailand for its third season, premiering on HBO. This time, the luxury resort chain welcomes a fresh ensemble cast, including Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, and the return of Natasha Rothwell as the beloved spa manager, Belinda. Filmed across Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui, this season is set to be a tropical whirlwind of drama and intrigue.
