KStew fans, get ready to fall in love with the queer icon once again in her latest project. Starring in Sam and Andy Zuchero’s new post-apocalyptic drama, Kristen Stewart takes on a slightly unique role as a buoy that has been left on earth after the end of humanity. When this buoy falls in love with a satellite, played by Steven Yeun, the film asks us to consider what the meaning of life and love truly is.
The trailer for this upcoming film showcases a world “in the not-too-distant future, after the end of humanity”. Both Kristen’s buoy and Steven’s satellite are able to watch old YouTube content to learn more about the humans before them. As a result, both robots are able to uncover the meaning of life.
Fans have quickly flocked to the project for its unique storyline and commentary on the nature of AI in our understanding of life.
Speaking at Sundance last year following the film’s debut, Kristen said: “The movie’s about everyone, all of our projections, fears and insecurities. The way we interact with ourselves and each other, the way we present. The negotiation between lies and manipulation and also disparity in wanting to be seen. I just looked at it [the script] and was like, ‘Oh so I could play everyone in the whole world in this movie, and then really I could only play myself.’… When I watched the movie it’s like everyone I’ve ever met is in it.”
After its debut at Sundance, Love Me was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize which is given to a project that focuses on science or technology.
You can watch Love Me in cinemas on 31 January.
