EastEnders is set to end the year with a bang as Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) prepares to marry Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) in a New Year wedding. The couple, whose relationship has been a slow-burning but deeply emotional journey, is ready to tie the knot despite lurking danger from Suki’s vengeful ex-husband, Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry).

Heather Peace, in a recent interview with RadioTimes, shared her excitement about the storyline while teasing the inevitable Walford chaos. “She’s [Suki] the love of her life, and it’s the start of forever for Eve,” Heather explained. “The start of forever with a clear road, and no lies. It’s a dream come true, definitely.”

Fans are already excited to see Eve don a white suit with a unique peacock feather in her lapel, carefully chosen to complement Suki’s stunning saree. “If you look up peacock feathers, they have all sorts of references that we really felt resonated with Suki and Eve,” Heather added. In many cultures, peacock feathers represent good luck, prosperity, renewal, beauty, pride, and spiritual growth.

While the couple’s love story has captivated fans, obstacles remain, including Nish’s sinister plans for revenge. Heather, however, is rooting for the couple. In an Instagram post, Heather wrote a touching tribute to the sapphic storyline. “Two and half years for #sukeve to get to this point. A love story. A story that resonates with all people regardless of gender, race, religion, sexuality. It’s about love. Connection. It’s about meeting your person.”

“And for EastEnders to allow the space for this story to evolve has been quite something. It’s happened in real time. And as an actor who has never been involved in soap, long term, it’s been the thing that I take away as what’s precious about the genre. The time. The history. The space for nuance.”

“I want Suki & Eve to make it,” Heather concluded. “I always have done. It’s representation across cultures. It’s just human in nature.”

As EastEnders gears up for this emotional milestone, fans are eager to see whether Eve and Suki can overcome the odds for their happily-ever-after. One thing is certain: Walford weddings are never dull.
