Clairo

You start your morning by contorting your curtain bangs into the perfect “effortless” shape before dousing your cheeks in blush to give you that fresh-faced, just finished a cry look. The Gen-Z reincarnate of twee Zooey Deschanel, you wear knee high socks every day despite them persistently slipping down your legs and giving you sensory overload. Although you have a record player (from Urban Outfitters) in your room, it’s collecting dust in the corner because you keep forgetting to change the needle. And like most Clairo fans, you’re a little bit shy but it comes off as charming…most of the time.

With enviable confidence and a strong sense of morals, you’re the friend everyone leans on in times of need. Although you should really start taking your own advice more often. A chronic over-poster, your finsta followers know every single detail of your stream of consciousness. This includes the antics you get up to every weekend at the club, to which you would never turn up to without a platform boot and a glittery eye. 2024 will be remembered as the year you spent most of your time defending your mother’s honour against bitter Twitter trolls.

FKA Twigs

You’ll fight Charli XCX fans tooth and coffin-shaped acrylic nail for the title of coolest fandom. Forgoing the trend of Brat Green, you prefer to wear bleached brows and black bikini tops to the club in an effort to seem avant-garde. Always late, lime bikes drain your bank account, as you ignore speed limits and scroll through your phone looking at Boiler room ticket alerts and Feeld. But this means you need a limitless supply of fishnets in your closets because they somehow always get tangled in your pedal.

You fancy yourself a bit of a tortured artist but never seem to put out those “projects” you say you’re working on. And that film camera stuffed into your pocket with your rolling tobacco rarely gets to see the light of day. A chronic over-sharer in the pub, every night out ends up with three new follow requests from the friends you made in the bathroom earlier. But your soft girl nature is what makes you everyone’s favourite friend to have tea and chats with.

Chapstick lesbians unite! You put on a chill front but you’re really just disassociating thinking about going home to watch that new anime (probably Arcane) you started. With a chunky silver ring on each finger, you have ample fidget material that’s less noticeable than ripping up beer coasters at the table. But as a loyal plant mother, you never stay out too long for fear your tropical weeping fig will get thirsty.

Okay, theatre kid, we see you. This year’s Spotify wrapped was a narrow escape for you with Wicked only being released in November. A performer at heart, you are the class clown (and flirt) of your friend group with a sharp sense of humour that gets you into trouble. Good Squish scrunchies and oversized varsity jumpers are your uniform and your guilty pleasure are those questionable romcoms Lindsay Lohan keeps releasing on Netflix. 

Pink Pantheress 

You spend too much time on Vinted but tell your boss your wifi isn’t working so you can’t meet that deadline. Fitted with tooth gems and a leopard print handbag, you are the friend whose closet is raided by everyone before a night out. Y2K is not an aesthetic at this point, it’s a lifestyle, transporting everyone back to the golden years as the scent of your Britney Spears Fantasy perfume wafts past them. And what better place to show off your style than those trendy TikTok restaurants you drag your friends to?
