L Word fans, this one’s for you. Ilene Chaiken and Jennifer Beals have teamed together to create their brand new cross-platform queer media brand called Run-A-Muck. The organisation aims to produce content for film, TV, and live events.

As the genius behind The L Word, it is no surprise that Ilene Chaiken is once ahead at the helm of producing content for the LGBTQIA community. In a statement, Chaiken said: “Queerness is no longer peripheral, but central to the creation of culture. We’ve reached a threshold at which queer artists are dominating the entertainment space, and Run-A-Muck will simply be a media company that connects those creators with consumers who love their work.”

Starting in 2004, The L Word completely revolutionised the way that queer women were seen on screen. Having evolved into multiple iterations – such as The L Word: Generation Q – the show is a reminder of the power of telling LGBTQIA stories. This new media brand will hopefully continue this legacy.

Famed for being one half of #Tibette, and for being a staunch ally, Jennifer Beals also commented on the new endeavour: “The media industry is transforming, and the queer community is at the forefront. Our mission is to tell the most meaningful, compelling, and entertaining stories that resonate across generations and communities.”

Neither Chaiken nor Beals have revealed any of the future projects they are working on yet, but we cannot wait to see what this dynamic duo will produce. A reboot of The L Word I hear you cry?

DIVA magazine celebrates 30 years in print in 2024. If you like what we do, then get behind LGBTQIA media and keep us going for another generation. Your support is invaluable.

  1. Glad to hear this. What a great endeavor!

My number one wish would be to see a continuation of the Tibette couple in any capacity; I heard about there being a reboot of the original L Word in the works (also mentioned in this article), so I hope this comes to fruition. I’m in my early thirties and somehow I only recently watched the L Word (the original) and then I watched Generation Q. Tibette became my favorite couple of any television show I’ve ever watched

Secondly, (and I’m surprised that there is no network or streaming service that has yet decided to do this, given there is a huge demand from Station 19 fans) I would be thrilled to see a Station 19 spinoff centering on the characters of Maya and Carina (Marina) and their family.

    1. My number one wish, too! I’m keeping the faith there will be. I love a lot of wlw couples, but none compare to Tibette.
