Who doesn’t want to dress up as KStew?

Spooky season is finally upon us! As the winter nights creep closer and the sun sets at 4 pm, there’s only one holiday on our minds: Halloween. It is universally acknowledged that Halloween is an incredibly beloved holiday for the LGBTQIA community.

But it can be hard sometimes to know what cultural reference, character, or celebrity to dress up as. Especially if you’re like me and have left your Halloween planning to the last minute. So here are seven easy outfit ideas that can help you channel your queerness this Halloween.

Kristen Stewart’s Rolling Stone cover

This might have been one of the biggest cultural resets of the year. KStew’s iconic Rolling Stone cover shoot in a jockstrap sent sapphics everywhere into a frenzy. For those of you brave enough to brace the frosty nights in just a waistcoat and a jockstrap, this is for you. You can also adapt this costume by wearing a pair of boxers instead, and a nude-coloured t-shirt underneath. The key for this costume is a bucket load of hair gel to get the perfect messy mullet.

Regina George and Janis from Mean Girls

The 2024 adaptation of the cult classic film Mean Girls was queerer than ever. If you fancy channelling your inner preppy style, why not dress as Reneé Rapp’s Regina George? All you need is a ton of pink clothes. If you’re feeling a bit more grungey, how about going for the now canonically lesbian Janis? All you need is some heavy eye makeup, a choker, and a whole lot of confidence.

Channel your inner Bottoms character

If Bottoms was more your style this year, why not whip out a pair of dungarees, your favourite baggy t-shirt, and some fake blood to pay homage to this iconic film? You could even paint on a black eye for added effect.

Amy from I Kissed A Girl

Like most of the sapphic world, we fell in love with Amy on BBC’s new sapphic dating show I Kissed A Girl. Fans of the show will know that Amy was famed for her incredible outfits, all of which were accompanied by a pair of knee high boots.

Chappell Roan

This sapphic trailblazer has been occupying every corner of the internet since her rise to stardom earlier this year. Renowned for her iconic style, Chappell is the perfect celeb to emulate this Halloween. You can take inspiration from any of her drag-inspired looks, or go for some camo print to represent the Midwestern Princess.

The Dyke Renaissance

2024 has been the year of the Dyke Renaissance. From new clubs, bars, events, artists, shows, and so much more, sapphics are coming into the limelight with full force. To represent this milestone in LGBTQIA culture, why not dress as your favourite dyke? Or you could find a way to pay homage to your favourite moments from the Dyke Renaissance this year?

Billie Eilish in the Guess music video

And finally, another moment in pop culture that sent us into a frenzy was Billie Eilish’s cameo in Charli XCX’s music video for the song Guess. Now while you can just copy Billie’s look with a beanie and some baggy clothes, a more creative way to honour this moment is to craft yourself a look made with any old underwear you have lying about. Make a t-shirt, tuck them into your pockets, or you could even make them into patches to sew onto your clothes.
