Louisa Connolly-Burnham among the six powerful performances to win prizes at Cardiff’s Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival

The Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival ended its fabulous weekend of queer films with prizes for six performances and one feature film. Among the winners were Sister Wives star and filmmaker Louisa Connolly-Burnham and Dennis Grindel, the lead in Ellie Hodgetts’ Fairview Park.
Louisa won the prize for Best British Performance in a Female Role for her part as Kaidence in Sister Wives. The film, also directed by Louisa, won Best British Short as well.
Best British Performance in a Male Role was won by Dennis Grindel, who played Declan Flynn in Fairview Park, and Richard Wilson for Ceri in G Flat.
Ashley Goa, who played Kai in Divine Intervention, won Best British Performance Beyond the Binary. Other awards were the Iris Prize Best Performance in a female role, which Luciana Grasso, as Vera in Vera And The Pleasure Of Others, and the Iris Prize Best Performance in a Male Role, which went to Lou Goosens for Elias in Young Hearts.
Young Hearts also won the Iris Prize for Best Feature Film. The Youth Jury Prize went to Jia, by Vee Shi.
The Iris Prize film festival took place over last week and will return next year.
