With two weeks to go until the Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival opens, eight talks with industry experts and special guests have been revealed, including Kate Herron, the director of Netflix’s Sex Education.

Herron will open the talks programme with a Q&A. Producer Adam Knopf and actor Arwel Gruffydd will also take to the stage to discuss the making of their critically acclaimed queer drama Lost Boys & Fairies. Other talks include a discussion of trans and non-binary storytelling with a panel of filmmakers, hosted by DIVA’s Editor-In-Chief Roxy Bourdillon and a closing talk with Iris Alumni.

Berwyn Rowlands, the Iris Prize’s Director, said: “With so many filmmakers about to descend on Cardiff for the festival, there’s that sense of the global family of directors, writers, producers and actors coming together to reflect and discuss issues to do with filmmaking and specifically diversity and tolerance as experienced by the LGBTQIA communities.”

The festival is a six-day celebration of LGBTQIA film. The 18th edition will take place from 8-13 October in Cardiff, Wales. The full programme can be found on the Iris Prize website
