Akt has announced that Adam Pemberton Wickham will be taking on the new role
BY BETHIA WYBORN
The Albert Kennedy Trust has announced that Adam Pemberton Wickham is the new CEO starting in October 2024.
Akt or The Albert Kennedy Trust is a national LGBTQIA youth homelessness charity that provides support to young people who are homeless or living in hostile environments after coming out to their parents, caregivers, or communities.
āI am thrilled to joinĀ aktĀ as their new permanent CEO. I remember whenĀ aktĀ was founded in the 80s. The work they were doing then was so vital for LGBTQIA young people and it remains so important today.ā
āOne in four homeless young people are LGBTQIA and over 50% have tried to access another service before coming to akt for specialist help. Increasing homophobia and transphobia is putting these vulnerable young people in even greater danger.ā said Adam Pemberton Wickham.ā
Adam is currently the Director of Strategy and Communications at Centerpoint and has previously held significant roles at Barnardoās and Victim Support.
Adamās long-standing dedication to the LGBTQIA community and youth services uniquely positions him to lead akt.
āI am deeply honoured to become part of the movement for safe homes and brighter futures for LGBTQIA young people,ā continued Adam.
With the appointment of a new CEO, akt will continue its mission to provide safe homes and better futures for LGBTQIA young people as well as furthering its impact and reach to ensure that the needs of vulnerable LGBTQIA young people are met with compassion and effectiveness.
