It’s been four years since the final credits rolled. Here’s what our faves have been up to since…

I’m always jealous of people who haven’t seen the wonderful feelgood show that is Schitt’s Creek before. That is because I would pay good money to experience the magic of the series for the first time. However, it also makes for the perfect comfort re-watch.
If you are one of the few not to have witnessed this gamechanging heartfelt show, then be warned, spoilers lay ahead. Come back when you’ve binged it from start to end and you’re eager to find out when and how you can see more from your favourite cast members.
The show – created by father and son duo Eugene and Dan Levy – first came out in 2015, growing in popularity as the years went on. When we first meet the Rose family they’ve found themselves suddenly bankrupt and their one remaining asset is an “ugly” small town, Schitt’s Creek, where they have to move to in hopes of rebuilding their lives. It ran for a total of five years and we sadly said goodbye to our favourite characters in 2020.
While queer joy is now something we get to regularly see in shows like Heartstopper, this wasn’t always the case. Schitt’s Creek was a pivotal show, that changed the game for queer storytelling. This was a show that delivered wonderful LGBTQIA characters, who just got to live their lives without homophobia or discrimination being a part of their lives. The world needed to be shown that you could tell LGBTQIA stories without focusing on queer trauma. It was and still is beloved by LGBTQIA and non-LGBTQIA fans alike and has opened up so many conversations between families.
Here’s what the cast has been up to since we said our farewells…
Dan Levy (David Rose)
Dan’s character goes through one of the biggest transformations on the show. By the time we final credits rolled he’s almost unrecognisable from the version of himself from the pilot episode. It was such a beautiful character arc to get to watch.
Since saying goodbye to David, Dan has taken on a range of different projects. We of course swooned over him in Happiest Season, the much-needed sapphic Queermas romcom, where he played Kristen Stewart’s queer bestie who was forced to give a “very convincing” performance of a heterosexual.
Last year, he starred in and produced the film Good Grief which is a heartfelt tear-jerker of a film which wasn’t afraid of giving us messy MLM characters.
We also got to see Dan take on roles in the fourth season of Sex Education (arguably it’s best season) and The Idol.
This year, Dan was cast in Curb Your Enthusiasm and Unfrosted and is set to appear in The Smurfs Movie and Animal Friends next year.
Noah Reid (Patrick Brewer)
Patrick and David are my favourite ship in TV history, though I may be biased as they remind me of an MLM version of myself and my GF.
Noah’s portrayal of Patrick was such a highlight of the show. It was great to watch these two men learn to love each other as they are. Noah also proved he can act AND sing – as evidenced by his beautiful cover of LGBTQIA icon Tina Turner’s Simply The Best, which he dedicated to David in a tear-jerker of a scene.
While we desperately need more Noah on our screens, he has appeared in short film The Archivist. This year he was cast in the audio play Maybe This Time and appeared in 13 episodes of Outer Range as Billy Tillerson.
He has an upcoming project in the works titled Pet Therapy. So keep your eyes peeled for more Noah goodness.
Emily Hampshire (Stevie Budd)
Another highlight of the show was Stevie and David’s friendship. Stevie’s deadpan humour and David’s sassy sarcasm shaped them up to be very compatible BFFs, and it also allowed them to become more vulnerable with each other.
Since saying goodbye to Stevie’s signature plaid shirts, Emily’s starred in films such as The End Of Sex, Self Reliance, Fitting In and The Mattachine Family. We’ve also seen her in the Prime Video series, The Rig, which is set to return for a second season next year.
This year, Emily was seen in roles in films Mom and Humane, we’re excited to see what she does next!
Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose)
I’m convinced that Annie is the only actor who could have possibly portrayed Alexis and brought so much depth to the character. While all of the Rose family go through huge arcs across the seasons, none change so much as Alexis. While at first glance she appears vapid and one-dimensional, she soon had viewers around the world wanting to be “a little bit Alexis”.
Since filming the last ever episode, we’ve seen Annie take on roles in shows such as Russian Doll, Black Mirror and Kevin Can F**k Himself. We are eager to see what she does next.
Catherine O’Hara (Moira Rose)
Both Catherine and Moira are certified gay icons. But Moira’s campness takes this to a whole new level. Many LGBTQIA folks have donned her iconic wigs and ‘fits in order to pay homage to the character on Halloween (and all year round).
Since hanging up Moira’s extravagant wardrobe, Catherine has taken on many voice acting roles in releases such as Back Home Again, Central Park and Elemental.
This year she’s starred in Argylle alongside queer actor Ariana DeBose. We also can’t wait to see her portray Delia Deetz in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice this October. Next year she’s set to appear in three episodes of The Last Of Us.
 Eugene Levy (Johnny Rose)Â
It was great to see actor, writer and producer portray the onscreen father to his IRL son. At the time it was rare to see queer characters receiving support from their parents surrounding their sexuality – especially their fathers. The relationship between Johnny and David certainly opened up a lot of familial conversations.
Since the show ended in 2020, Eugene has appeared in films such as Summer Camp and Star-Crossed and, like his onscreen wife, has lent his skills to some voice acting roles such as Back Home Again and Netflix’s Big Mouth spin-off show Human Resources.
Sarah Levy (Twyla Sands)Â
While Eugene’s real-life daughter didn’t play his onscreen daughter in the show, she did bring to life his daughter’s unlikely bestie, Twyla.
After saying farewell to Twyla, Sarah has appeared in TV series such as United We Fall, All Rise, Stories Of Kindness and The Holiday Shift.
Next year she’s set to take on the role of Aunt Ida in The Monkey which is currently in post-production
Karen Robinson (Ronnie Lee)
We loved the lesbian visibility that Karen brought to Schitt’s Creek through Ronnie. The character undeniably delivered some of the best lines in the entire series.
Since saying goodbye to the outspoken character, Karen has appeared in TV shows such as Tiny Pretty Things, Star Trek: Discovery, Titans and The Good Doctor. (Talk about impressive acting credits!).
This year she’s appeared in 10 episodes of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent and is currently set to appear in at least two more next year.Â
