If you’re looking for a new show to watch this summer, you’re in luck. BBC One have just announced that their new series Made In Korea: The K-Pop Experience will be launching very soon. Following a UK boy band named Dear Alice, the show will see the group put through the K-pop training process on a global stage.
This six-part series is a collaboration between Moon&Back Media, SM Entertainment, and SM & Kakao Entertainment America. Co-founder of Moon&Back Media is lesbian icon Dawn Airey who has worked at the likes of Channel 5, Sky UK, and Getty. Partnering with SM Entertainment – one of the leaders in South Korea’s entertainment and media industry – this show promises to unveil the rigorous and exciting process of getting a K-Pop band onto the world stage.
BBC Radio 1 DJ Vick Hope will be voicing the show, guiding us through the many challenges and tasks the band will face. Vick said: “I’m really looking forward to being a part of the show, it’s a fresh way to bring along a brand-new boyband, and I’m excited to see their journey.”
Dawn Airey helped to open the screening for the new show this morning (1 August), with former Publisher of DIVA Linda Riley in attendance amongst others at the official screening.

Various K-pop idols like Holland, Jessi, and Jo Kwon have all spoken vocally about LGBTQIA rights, and K-pop artists have often attracted a large queer following.
You will be able to watch Made In Korea: The K-Pop Experience later this summer. The release date has not been announced.
