Are you like every other queer woman and non-binary person in the UK right now and have made I Kissed a Girl your whole personality this summer? We know it’s hard, but it’s time to rebound and move on to a new queer reality TV show. To make it easier for you to find your next favourite series we have compiled a list that will fill the Dannii Minogue-shaped space in your heart until I Kissed a Girl returns for a second series.

I Kissed A Boy

Before I Kissed A Girl, there was I Kissed A Boy. Now we know that the boys on this show might not exactly be your type but the wholesome dynamics of the show remain the same and one thing remains a constant in this series: fan-favourite host Dannii Minogue. The authenticity of these series is unparalleled due to contestants who come onto the show to find love rather than to win a cash prize.

Ultimatum: Queer Love

This was the show we couldn’t stop talking about in 2023. The premise of Ultimatum: Queer Love is that couples who are struggling to come to an agreement about marriage come onto the show to test their relationships by switching partners. What could go wrong? If you love messy dynamics and lots of drama then this show is for you.

Are You The One?

Are You The One? is hitting its tenth anniversary, and there is no better time in our eyes to watch or rewatch its very queer eighth season. Originally premiering in 2019, the eighth season featured an all-bisexual cast with no limits on who could be partnered with who. The show, produced by MTV and filmed in Hawaii, received favourable reviews. The Atlantic described the season as a “fascinating tonal mashup” which we can only assume is a good thing. The season also won a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Reality Programme.

Open House: The Great Sex Experiment

Offering something completely different from the rest of the shows on this list, Open House: The Great Sex Experiment. The show follows couples who want to open their relationship for the first time. The show features lesbian and gay couples looking to open up their relationships. We love that this show is so sex-positive and hope that it will return soon for a third season.

Love Allways

Love Allways follows a The Bachelor-style narrative where one hopeful single tries to find her match but with the twist that the contestants looking to couple up with her are any gender. In series one of the programme, 20-year-old Tik Tok creator Lexi Paloma was the single leading the show forward. It can be found on the Paramount+ network.

Love At First Lie

The gripping competition series, Love at First Lie, follows eight couples trying to answer one question to take home a big cash prize: who is the fake couple among them? The series features a diverse cast of couples, including, yes you guessed it LGBTQIA relationships. The couples compete in challenges whilst living in a luxurious house in Malta testing relationships and weeding out the fake pair. Initially, with a prize standing at $25,000, the stakes rise throughout the series with the prize money increasing by $25,000 every time they correctly eliminate a fake couple. If you loved The Traitors, then we think this should be the next TV show on your list.

Coming Out For Love

Coming Out For Love is America’s first lesbian dating show created by the award-winning queer filmmaker Nicole Conn. The show is hosted by actor and activist Jessica Clark who is known for roles in La La Land, Season Of Love and Emmy nominated series True Blood. She is also queer and happily married to wife Ruby Cook. The premise involves 16 queer women living together and participating in challenges to try and match up with single Amber Whittington. The show truly stands out due to its diversity and inclusion of queer contestants, host and production staff.
