Liverpool is gearing up for an electrifying addition to its annual Pride festivities as Pride in Liverpool announces an extra day of celebration with the introduction of Pride Classical. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Liverpool Waterfront, the event promises to be a dazzling showcase of talent and inclusivity.
Scheduled for Friday 26 July, Pride Classical will feature a 32-piece orchestra accompanied by renowned LGBTQIA artists, delivering iconic Pride anthems spanning the last five decades. This unprecedented ticketed event aims to complement the free Saturday festivities, ensuring accessibility for all while offering a unique and immersive experience.
Local drag sensation and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season Four Winner, Danny Beard, will serve as the evening’s host. Joining him is Alison Jiear, acclaimed for her powerhouse vocals and extensive West End credits, promising to enchant the audience with her performance.
Andi Herring, CEO of LCR Pride Foundation, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to bring Pride Classical to the city as part of the Pride in Liverpool festival this year. It is a truly spectacular event that showcases the best of LGBTQIA talent whilst uplifting our community’s voice.”
Tickets for Pride Classical are now available, with proceeds contributing to the funding of Pride in Liverpool’s main event on Saturday 27 July. By attending, patrons not only ensure a memorable evening but also support the continuation of free Pride celebrations for the community.
Danny Beard shared his enthusiasm, saying: “I can’t wait to bring Pride Classical to my home city of Liverpool! You can expect classic queer anthems delivered with big beard energy – it’s going to be an incredible night and I’m just so excited!”
