DIVAs, we have exciting news! Global superstar and LGBTQIA ally Dannii Minogue will be presenting an award at this year’s DIVA Awards, which will be taking place at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms on 26 April. Hosted by Sophie Ward, this year’s DIVA Awards will be celebrating the trailblazing LGBTQIA women and non-binary people who have helped to shape, support, and amplify the LGBTQIA community.

The Australian singer, actress, and TV personality is widely considered a national treasure after her 19 number-one dance singles as well as judging on shows like The X Factor, Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model, and more recently hosting BBC Three’s award-winning queer dating show I Kissed A Boy. She has performed at Mardi Gras and Pride events around the world and performed last year with her sister, Kylie at Sydney WorldPride. Dannii was the first artist to perform at the infamous gay club G-A-Y in the 90s, and in 1998 she was the first artist to bring the lesbian community to the stage to perform an all-girl show at Sydney Mardi Gras.

She has vocally supported LGBTQIA projects like the Just Like Us’ Student Ambassador Programme and Switchboard in London.

Her appearance at the DIVA Awards coincides with the release of BBC Three’s new LGBTQIA dating show I Kissed A Girl which will air on 5 May. Hosted by Dannii, the show will see 10 queer women enjoy a summer of love in their search for their perfect partner.

Dannii Minogue told DIVA that she can’t wait to attend the awards. “To be in London during Lesbian Visibility Week and launch of the first ever all female gay dating show in the UK, it is an honour to be with the girls and for the girls in celebration of the DIVA Awards.”

She continued: “I have had the pleasure of performing at LGBTQIA events for as long as I have been performing, and my bond with the beautiful people I have met is getting stronger. I will always be here to champion the rights of queer people, help to spark conversations and spread the word of love.”

DIVA Publisher Linda Riley added: “DIVA magazine is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and therefore this DIVA Awards is set to honour the LGBTQIA pioneers who have changed or shaped LGBTQIA rights over the last three decades. With stars like Dannii helping to platform these incredible trailblazers and allies, it will be a truly momentous occasion.”

This year’s DIVA Awards is set to be bigger than ever, and will see an exclusive performance from LGBTQIA icon Lucy Spraggan. We cannot wait to share the evening with all of you – keep an eye on our social media to join in with the evening!
