The Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival, based in Cardiff, has exciting news for Pride Month celebrations this June. Collaborating with Ffotogallery and Transport for Wales, the festival organisers have announced the return of the Pink Portraits project, featuring the work of talented photographer Sarah Scorey.
Pink Portraits 2024 aims to shine a light on LGBTQIA professionals within Transport For Wales through a series of ten captivating photographs captured by Sarah Scorey. Holding a first-class BA Hons in Photography from the University of West of England, Scorey specialises in fashion and editorial photography, bringing a unique perspective to this year’s project. Accompanying the portraits will be a behind-the-scenes video documenting the process of their creation, culminating in a screening at Pride Cymru in Cardiff.
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity, Sarah Scorey shared: “I’m extremely thankful and grateful to have been picked for this amazing opportunity to photograph some of Transport For Wales’ LGBTQIA staff members as part of Pink Portraits 2024. Photography has been a source of empowerment for me, so I’m really looking forward to using photography as a tool of empowerment and seeing what we create!”
The Pink Portraits 2024 project will see these striking images displayed across public spaces in Wales throughout June. Marie Daly, Chief Customer and Culture Officer at Transport For Wales, expressed pride in the organisation’s inclusivity and enthusiasm for the project. “We’re excited to be part of this project and to have the opportunity to celebrate LGBTQIA colleagues from right across our organisation.”
Siân Addicott, Director of Ffotogallery, also expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating: “Sarah’s application stood out in terms of its creativity and personal style, alongside her connection with the LGBTQIA community. We are excited to see the new portraits as the project develops.”
As Pride Month approaches, anticipation builds for the unveiling of Pink Portraits 2024, promising a celebration of diversity, empowerment, and artistic expression across Wales.
Iris Prize will return this year: Tuesday 8 October – Sunday 13 October 2024
