The Eurogames have started getting ready to say Helô to Cardiff after Pride Sports Cymru successfully secured the bid to host the 2027 Games. Governed by the EGLSF, EuroGames is the largest Europe-wide multi-sport event for LGBTQIA athletes and allies in Europe.
Boasting a range of 27 sports including touch rugby, volleyball and tennis, the 2027 Games will see 5,000 athletes come to the Welsh capital city.
Pride Sports Director, Lou Englefield, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing a EuroGames to Wales. It is a huge privilege for Pride Sports Cymru. Hosting a EuroGames is an opportunity to showcase Cardiff as a world-class sporting city, and to highlight Wales’ commitment to becoming the most LGBTQIA-friendly nation in Europe”.

Wales launched their LGBTQ+ Action Plan last year, with the overall goal of becoming the most LGBTQIA-friendly nation in Europe. This involved becoming a Nation of Sanctuary for LGBTQIA migrants.
Team member Jess Williams explained: “A EuroGames in Wales will be transformative for LGBTQIA people in sport, and indeed the whole community. The legacy the games will create, and the opportunity for positive change are enormous. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our beautiful capital city.”
