
This iconic festival is dedicated to amplifying the diverse voices of queer women

The LGBT Foundation is thrilled to unveil the exciting line up for the 18th annual Sugar And Spice Festival, a landmark celebration highlighting the vibrant and diverse voices of queer women. Scheduled to unfold from 8-10 March, this empowering festival stands as a testament to the LGBT Foundation’s dedication to showcasing the distinctive experiences and contributions of queer and LGBTQIA women.
Anticipated to be an unforgettable affair, the 2024 edition guarantees a remarkable lineup of joy-filled workshops, captivating performances, and interactive activities.
Jax Effiong, Chair of the LGBT Foundation’s Board of Trustees, said: “Sugar And Spice is more than just an annual event; it’s a testament to the strength and resilience of queer women. For 18 years, this festival has been a powerful showcase of their diverse voices and experiences here in Manchester. It is without a doubt one of my favourite moments of the year; I hope you’ll join us in celebrating all the fabulous women in our lives and revel in the joy of being queer!”

All Sugar And Spice events are free, and event registration will go live soon at lgbt.foundation.
Ellie White, Community Engagement Coordinator for the LGBT Foundation, said: “Sugar And Spice is a special celebration that perfectly fits with Women’s History Month, International Women’s Week, International Women’s Day, and LBT+ Women’s Health Week. Join us in this fantastic celebration, where we give space to LGBTQIA women to celebrate themselves and each other in their wonderfully unique experiences, plus learn some new skills from each other.”
She added: “LGBTQIA women’s spaces are so important for us as individuals and as communities to uplift each other and have some fun. It’s a joyous event filled with diversity, inclusivity, and empowerment. Be part of this incredible space created just for LGBTQIA women!”

Sapphic Showcase

Kick off Sugar And Spice weekend with the fourth edition of Sapphic Showcase – a cabaret and open mic night celebrating LGBTQIA women. Featuring headliners to be announced. Sign up for the open mic and join a supportive crowd. Tickets sell out fast!
Lino Print Workshop

Join the Queer Roots Collective for a lino printing workshop as part of Sugar And Spice. Learn the art of designing, carving, printing, and sewing on patches. This event is supported by the Cheshire Community Fund and Manchester City Council.
Upcycled Coin Pouch Workshop

Stitched Up will host a hand-sewing workshop for LGBTQIA women. Design, embellish, and complete your own purse pouch using reclaimed materials. Beginner-friendly. Materials provided. Supported by Cheshire Community Fund and Manchester City Council.
Women’s Circle

Join Empowerment Coach Darleen for a Women’s Circle featuring journaling, meditation, movement, and more. A safe space for LGBTQIA women to share and uplift each other.
Laughter for Stress Relief

Sara of Serious Laughter @seriouslaughuk presents a stress relief session for LGBTQIA women. Experience simulated laughter exercises and soft body relaxation techniques.

Join the Sexual Health team for a free workshop exploring individual relationships with sex and intimacy. Use group discussion and private reflection to develop your personal “sex narrative”.
