After wowing audiences in the Hunger Games prequel film, fans will be delighted to hear that queer icon Hunter Schafer will be coming back to the big screen in a new horror film. Written and directed by Tilman Singer, her new film Cuckoo has finally released a teaser trailer.

Taking on the role of Gretchen, Hunter’s new film follows a 17-year-old girl who leaves America to live in an eerie German Alps resort with her father. In true horror film fashion, everything is not what it seems.

In the tense teaser, Hunter is shown to be looking out into the ominous darkness before flicking open her switchblade.

The official synopsis of the new film sheds more light on this mysterious thriller: “Arriving at their future residence, they are greeted by Mr. König, her father’s boss, who takes an inexplicable interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister Alma. Something doesn’t seem right in this tranquil vacation paradise. Gretchen is plagued by strange noises and bloody visions until she discovers a shocking secret that also concerns her own family.”

Alongside the Hunger Games and Euphoria star, Cuckoo’s cast includes Dan Stevens and Jessica Henwick. It will premiere at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on 16 February.
