We’ve created the perfect wardrobe for you to pretend like you’re dating Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis

It really is the most fabulous time of year. Not only does cold weather mean layers, which means greater freedom of fashionable expression, but also snuggling up with your boo-thang by the fire, radiator, or towel warmer and watching your favourite winter rom-coms.
Our personal favourite is the Happiest Season. Starring Kristen Stewart, Mackenzie Davis, and Aubrey Plaza, it’s an unconventional go-to for outfit inspiration this Christmas.
Abby, played by Stewart, goes home with Davis for Christmas to meet a family who not only “made her favourite person”, but has no clue as to the real reason she and Davis live together. Instead, Stewart is handed the role of orphaned best friend/roommate, which pretty much sums up her style.
The costume designer, Kathleen Felix-Hager, relied on her character’s personalities to shine through and went thrifting with Stewart in order to put her looks together. That’s just to say – you can easily show up to Christmas as a Kristen or an Aubrey this year after a couple of trips to the high street.
The Awkward Christmas Party
Deciding what to wear to a Christmas party is never easy, and it’s easy to feel like buying a new party outfit is necessary. But Abby channels her easygoing PhD-student energy into a simple but elevated look. Here, by combining a nondescript blazer with an open button-down shirt and ribbon necktie to great effect.

The blazer can be found here, and the silk black necktie is from Margiela.
The Roof
The film opens with Abby and Harper joining a cringe-worthy Christmas lights tour in the neighbourhoods of Pittsburgh before climbing onto someone’s roof to look at the lights from on-high. For those who don’t feel like going full-on Christmas by donning their BDSM reindeer onesie, these understated options will work just fine.

The double-breasted brown wool coat is from Karen Millen, and the accessory sets are from John Lewis.
The Jewellery Store:
While out ring shopping for her soon-to-be fiance, Abby and co-star Dan Levy both rock a peacoat. Abby’s, true-to-character, is plain black but matches the two-toned gold band with a solitaire perfectly.

The coat and olive gloves are available from John Lewis, and the grey mittens are from Headfudge.
The Ex-Girlfriend Run-In
Leave it to Aubrey Plaza to drive both men and women wild, in all of her roles. Here, as the ex-girlfriend, getting friendly with Harper’s new woman, in a good way. Plaza, aka Riley, coincidentally matches Abby that night, adding fuel to Harper’s cosy, jealous fire.

The blazer from Reiss can be found here, and Cupid’s bow and arrow pendant can be found here.
The Family Meltdown
What good family Christmas drama doesn’t culminate in a drama-filled catfight that leaves the tree in shambles on the carpet? Well, that accurately sums up Harper’s coming out to her parents, spoiled in part by her sister’s spilling the secret first. Let’s make sure should any meltdowns happen, you’re dressed for the occasion.

The dresses are from: Ted Baker (purple) and Reformation (blue).
