It’s back! The highly anticipated BFI Flare film festival has just announced that the 38th edition will run from 13-24 March 2024 at BFI Southbank. Created in 1986, BFI Flare is the UK’s longest-running queer film event and showcases some of the finest LGBTQIA films every year.

This year’s Festival sees the tenth year of #FiveFilmsForFreedom in partnership with the British Council. The fantastic initiative has been used by viewers across the world in order to show solidarity for LGBTQIA communities in countries where freedom and equal rights are limited. Last year over three million used the initiative to watch and support LGBTQIA stories being told.

The 38th BFI Flare will be programmed by Grace Barber-Plentie, Jay Bernard, Zorian Clayton, Rhianna Ilube, Wema Mumma and Brian Robinson.

The submissions for BFI Flare are open now and will close on 15 December 2023

BFI Flare will be releasing its full line up on 13 February.

DIVA magazine will celebrate 30 years in print in 2024. If you like what we do, then get behind LGBTQIA media and keep us going for another generation. Your support is invaluable.
