“Roxy combined activism, a deep understanding of her audience and a commitment to diversity”

DIVAs, congratulations are in order! Our very own fabulous editor-in-chief Roxy Bourdillon received the Highly Commended New Editor Of The Year award at last night’s British Society Of Magazine Editors awards, with the New Editor Of The Year award going to Stylist’s Alix Walker.
The evening’s star-studded celebrations were hosted by BSME chair Deborah Joseph, and presenter and journalist Vick Hope. Love Island’s Laura Whitmore presented the Editor Of The Year category and shared the judges’ remarks. “Roxy combined activism, a deep understanding of her audience and a commitment to diversity that produced impressive results,” the judges commented on the powerful work Roxy has been doing with DIVA magazine since she became editor in 2021.
This accolade was a reminder of the power of queer media, and the importance of keeping queer voices in the conversation.
The BSME awards were also a great example of queer visibility in the media, with trailblazing Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful OBE taking home the Mark Boxer Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented to him with a moving speech from none other than supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Glamour magazine’s Trans, Pregnant, Proud cover, which featured pregnant trans man Logan Brown, also won Digital Cover Of The Year.
Congratulations Roxy! We are so proud.
The BSME awards took place at Rosewood London on Tuesday 21 November. You can read the full list of winners here: bsme.com/awards-2023-winners
