Sarah Walk is a reflective, emotive indie singer-songwriter consistently praised for their honest and raw delivery of soul-baring lyrics, as The Line Of Best Fit puts it, their music is “emboldened with self-reliance, power, freedom, and hope.” Sarah is now embarking on a month-long tour of Europe and the UK, delivering their signature, soothing sounds to London and cities across Austria and Germany.

The London headline is set to take place at Blacks Club, 31 January, hosted by Golden Slippers, a society that platforms emerging talent and established stars in intimate, candle-lit venues for guest-list only attendees typically made up of music industry leaders, critics and influencers. This will be the first time they’ve played there since the release of Another Me in 2020. Sarah tells DIVA:

“Golden Slippers was one of my earliest gigs when I first started spending time in London. It’s always such quality music and an amazing atmosphere that’s a joy to be a part of. The room is intimate … it’ll be a stripped-down set and I know there’s no better audience than them.”

A graduate of Berklee College of Music (alumni includes St Vincent, Aimee Mann, Melissa Ethridge among others), Sarah Walk grew up in Minnesota but has spent much of their time living between Los Angeles and London. They worked on debut album Little Black Book with producer Steve Brown (Laura Mvula) and co-produced Another Me with Leo Abrahams (Regina Spektor, Belle and Sebastian, Paul Simon, Pulp, David Byrne, Brian Eno). Their recent self-investigative material explores themes of vulnerability, toxic relationships and entitlement within structural patriarchy.

Whilst Golden Slippers events are typically guest-list only, founder Jen Roberts told DIVA that she is keen for new faces to reach out to her at jen@golden-slippers.com, with information about who they are and why they might be interested in attending a gig:

“I’ll always welcome passionate and good-hearted music lovers from all walks of life. It’s a very inclusive community with significant queer representation and I’ve normalised gender equality in my programming since its inception.”

It’s set to be an incredible night, be there if you can DIVAs! If you can’t make it to London join Sarah elsewhere on their European tour – dates to catch them are here.
