Looking for a new music release to wrap your ears around? Look no further than RAVAGE, fresh from Berlin-based songwriter and filmmaker Mogli. Exploring the healing potential of music, Mogli reaches out to her fans with this new, vastly cathartic release. With one album and two EPs already behind her, she has been creating authentic, soulful music since the very beginning. Raised by two mums and an Algerian dad, her parents taught her that she could achieve anything she wanted; regardless of her sexuality, gender or race.
Influenced by the overwhelming isolation of the pandemic, RAVAGE explores contemporary political injustices and the resulting short film, directed by none other than Mogli herself, weaves together the music videos released in anticipation of this new project’s arrival. The result is dystopian, but poignant. At the heart of it all lies Mogli’s desire to fight for justice, and in doing so, she creates a unique sense of solidarity between herself and her devout fans.
In an exclusive interview with DIVA for the March 2022 issue, Mogli revealed: “When I wrote this album, it wasn’t the concept to make it a visual album. I went to the studio whilst battling depression and burnout, and I used the songwriting as a cathartic process. I later realised that there was such a strong message in the songs that I wanted to put them across visually as well. That’s when I decided to do a movie. Each chapter is a moment in my emotional journey.”
