How many queer icons can you handle in one series?

As if Clea DuVall wasn’t already a certified queer legend with the upcoming release of her queer Christmas film, Happiest Season, starring the one and only Kristen Stewart, she’s got more where that came from up her sleeve.
High School is a coming-of-age comedy series currently in development, based on the bestselling memoir by Grammy-nominated, Platinum recording artists, and queer music icons, Tegan and Sara Quin.
Tegan and Sara’s High School memoir coincided with the release of 2019 album, Hey, I’m Just Like You. Their ninth album comprised of songs they penned as teenagers in the ’90s and re-recorded almost two decades later.
Written by Clea, who will also direct the pilot, High School is set to be a transcendent story of first loves and first songs.
The synopsis reads: “Through a backdrop of ’90s grunge and rave culture, the series tangles itself in the parallel and discordant memories of two sisters growing up down the hall from one another. This is a story about finding your own identity — a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimics your own.”
After the news broke about the series, Sara took to Twitter to joke that she and Tegan would be playing themselves that they are going to “start taking LSD and just get back into that mindset,” she teased in a video. But in a follow-up clip, she reassured us that “real actors will be cast.”
Honestly, pinch us, because this news feels like an actual dream come true.
