Truly, how could anyone not fall for Poussey? That smile. That laugh. And the fact she stays true to herself. She’ll always be our number one bae.
Nicky Nichols, Natasha Lyonne
“There’s always hope tomorrow will be taco night”
Though she might not always be the friendliest of voices in Litchfield, Nicky’s heart is very much in the right place. Taco night? We’re in.
Sophia Burset, Laverne Cox
“Holy shit. I look hot”
A kind soul in a not-always-so-kind place, Laverne Cox’s character Sophia is doubly important in that through her, we have a trans person playing a regular trans character. #RepresentationMatters
Galina “Red” Reznikov, Kate Mulgrew
“Ugh. People”
Red may not be queer, but she’s a key and well established character at Litchfield. A tough cookie, and understandably so, underneath it all she holds a lot of love for her fellow inmates
Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, Uzo Aduba
“I threw my pie for you”
One of the most memorable characters from the first season, she comes into her own as OITNB progresses, ending the journey as Suzanne – loveable, kind and much, much more than “Crazy Eyes”.
