DESCRIPTION:South Asian Heritage Month 2024 Theme Launch\nJoin South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) in Birmingham on March 21st for the launch of the 2024 theme. This event is in partnership with Culture Forward at the University of Birmingham. \nThis event is free to attend. \nPre-event Mixer [Foyer] \n– Welcome from the University of Birmingham \n– Intro from Jasvir Singh – South Asian Heritage Trust – Co Founder \n– Panel Discussions + Performances \nRamadan arrangements: \nWe fully appreciate that the launch event is taking place during Ramadan\, and we have made arrangements for those who will be observing the holy Islamic month. Whilst we are not able to host a full iftar\, there will be: \n\n Dedicated prayer space: an area is set aside for prayer.\nDates and water: We will provide dates and water for attendees to break their fast.\nRefreshments: A selection of refreshments and South Asian snacks will be provided.\n\nDate: Wednesday 21st March \nTime: 6pm – 8.00 pm \nLocation: Edgbaston Park Hotel – Lloyd Suite \n\n\n\n\nTheme Reveal: Jasvir Singh [Co-Founder] of South Asian Heritage Trust\nSite: https://southasianheritage.org.uk \nAbout South Asian Heritage Trust \nThe South Asian Heritage Trust seeks to elevate the prominence of British South Asian history and heritage in the UK through education\, arts\, culture\, celebration and commemoration. \nOur mission is to deepen people’s understanding of the rich and diverse contributions of South Asian communities to British society\, promote intercultural dialogue\, and foster greater social cohesion among communities. \nAbout South Asian Heritage Month  \nSAHM seeks to commemorate\, mark and celebrate South Asian cultures\, histories\, and communities. \nThe month seeks to understand the diverse heritage and cultures that continue to link the UK with South Asia. \nSouth Asian culture has made a significant impact on Britain in various aspects\, such as food\, clothing\, music\, words\, and the overall ambience of our towns and cities. \nIt’s a beautiful display of the rich and proud South Asian heritage that has blended into the British way of life\, contributing to the diversity of our nation. Observing South Asian Heritage Month provides us an excellent chance to embrace and celebrate the history and identity of British South Asians. \nThis year marks our 5th anniversary of SAHM.
