DIVA is searching for a dynamic new deputy editor to join our team

Are you passionate about inclusive queer culture? Do you love writing, creating and commissioning epic content? Would you like to join a diverse team of LGBTQI and non binary folks? Then this might just be your dream job.

We’re looking for an exceptionally talented deputy editor to assist our editor-in-chief and become the newest member of Team DIVA. DIVA is the ONLY printed monthly magazine for LGBTQI women and non-binary people, first published in 1994.

This is a full-time position spanning DIVA’s print magazine, website, social media platforms and online communities. While the role involves working from home, our ideal candidate will be based in London and able to attend regular meetings, events, interviews and photo shoots.

What we’re looking for:

An outstanding communicator bursting with original ideas and enthusiasm to make DIVA the best it can be

A superb understanding of the DIVA brand, including our content, tone and audience

Expert knowledge of all the latest LGBTQI culture, community and celebrity news

Strong previous experience writing and editing for a print or online magazine, ideally with a focus on LGBTQI issues or women and non-binary people

Experience in online news and the know-how to get our stories to number one in search engines

Someone social media savvy who knows instinctively what makes a great story, an eye-catching image and a viral video

A confident and skilled public speaker who can hold their own interviewing an A-lister or chairing a lively panel at an event

Awesome interpersonal skills for liaising with publicists, building relationships and being a key part of our close-knit team

Someone super organised with the ability to thrive under pressure in this busy and varied role, delivering work of a high standard with tight deadlines

Must be prepared to work flexible hours around key LGBTQI events and deadlines

We are particularly keen to receive applications from people with marginalised backgrounds and intersecting identities

Key responsibilities include:

Working closely with the editor-in-chief to plan cutting edge content for the magazine

Pitching, writing and producing fantastic features for our print magazine and website

Commissioning content, editing copy and managing contributors

Working with the DIVA team on the daily running of the magazine, website and social media platforms

Coming up with ideas to enhance DIVA’s online presence and increase our readership

Representing DIVA at events and speaking on panels

Co-ordinating photo shoots

Overseeing event literature and supplements

Deputising for the editor-in-chief when necessary
