SUMMARY:FutureQueer - created and performed by Alexis Gregory
DESCRIPTION:It’s 2069….and the whole world is queer. \nVoguing and lip syncing are categories in the Olympics. \nThere is a statue of George Michael on Hampstead Heath. \nAnd Starbucks own Pride (boo!). \nForty-six years ago\, in 1977\, setting out to create the sound of the future\, Donna Summer recorded queer anthem ‘I Feel Love’. But what will life REALLY be like for queer people in 2069\, forty-six years from now? \nArmed with a vintage Donna Summer vinyl\, playwright and performer Alexis Gregory decides to find out. ‘FutureQueer’ is part theatre\, stand-up comedy\, DIY queer lecture\, pop-culture commentary\, and meditation on disco music as a metaphor for queer survival. Basically….this show is camp AF. It’s also funny\, moving\, hard hitting\, irreverent\, provocative\, and a very queer romp through an imagined LGBTQ+ future. \nDoors and bar open from 6.30pm. \nThe performance will be followed by a post-show Q&A. \nLimited tickets now available. \nShow runs 70 mins + Q&A. \nMore info on the show here and booking link: \nlink.outsavvy.com/futurequeer

SUMMARY:Still Me - BFI Flare 2024
DESCRIPTION:After the success of 2019’s Transparent Love exhibition at BFI Flare\, leading photographer Amanda Searle has created Still Me\, an original series of beautiful portraits of ordinary people who have lived and are living extraordinary lives. These images approach the subjects with honesty and dignity\, exploring themes of gender and identity through a profoundly human lens. \nAmanda says: “I feel we cannot know or understand fully what it is like to live a transgender life\, unless we are living one\, but we can know and understand people who do. I hope these portraits give a sense of meeting these amazing people. I thank them for sharing time with me\, it has been an honour to get to know them.” \nAll About Trans creates space for dialogue and understanding about trans people building connections and inspiring authentic media content that reflects real-life experiences. The programme is run by award-winning small charity Heard ( Heard.org.uk).

SUMMARY:London Global Speak Out Against LGBT+ Criminalization in Russia
DESCRIPTION:“The Russian regime is stripping LGBT+ people of their basic human rights and even their right to exist. Courageous activists are standing firm\, but they need our love and solidarity. The Global Speak Out on March 16 turns that solidarity into action.” – Matt Beard\, Executive Director at All Out.\n\nIn the wake of Russia’s decision to label the “international public LGBT+ movement” as extremist\, the situation for LGBT+ people within the country has reached a critical point. Facing increased danger\, it’s become too dangerous for many to remain in Russia.\n\nThis is a call to action.\n\nOn Saturday 16 March 2024\, join us in London from 2pm to 4pm\, in a worldwide moment of solidarity. Rally opposite the Russian Embassy on Bayswater Road\, London W8 4QX. Nearest tubes: Queensway and Notting Hill Gate.\n\nAcross the globe\, communities will unite in front of Russian embassies\, government buildings\, and in town centers to voice our protest against the criminalization of the LGBT+ community in Russia. This is more than a protest; it’s a demonstration of our unwavering support and solidarity.\n\nDress Code: In a show of unity and to symbolize the suppression of LGBT+ identities\, we encourage attendees to wear all-gray or black-and-white attire.\nWe stand together\, peaceful and positive\, championing love and equality.\n\nBe a part of this global movement. Your voice matters. See you there!

SUMMARY:The Good Women
DESCRIPTION:After it’s premiere at VAULT Festival\, transfer to Greenwich Theatre and a sold-out UK and Ireland tour\, “The Good Women” returns to London! \nIt’s the 1960s\, the world is changing. Protesters take the streets\, hippies celebrate free love and a young band called “The Beatles” is rising to fame. Not in Switzerland\, where women still don’t have the vote (and would not get it until 1971) and are legally confined to kitchen and household. Bette\, the star of a regional TV cooking show\, and Trudy\, a housewife\, are about to change that. \n“The Good Women” is a new\, funny\, bold and romantic play written\, performed and directed by an all-female team from the UK\, Ireland and Europe. It is inspired by a true story and brings an overlooked chapter of women’s history to the stage. \n⭐⭐⭐⭐ \n“Good Women Arts’ poignant two-hander depicts burgeoning love against a backdrop of political struggle. Simply staged\, the romcom plot balances witty humour\, social injustice & emancipation” – Fringe Biscuit \n“The Good Women is a play on a fringe and festival scale which thinks big. It tells a nuanced story against a historic backdrop. The story and characters have room to breathe and develop.”– Salterton Arts Review \n“The two characters are very effectively played. It is an encouragement to continue the fight for change.”– British Theatre Guide \nhttps://www.instagram.com/goodwomenarts/ \nWednesday 5 to Saturday 8 June – 7:30pm\nPlus a matinee on Saturday 8 June – 3:00pm \nWednesday 12 to Saturday 15 June – 7:30pm\nPlus a matinee on Saturday 15 June – 3:00pm \nPost show Q & As with director Sophie Marsden and cast members Faith McCune and Lena Liedl on Wednesday 5 June and Wednesday 12 June \n\nRunning time:\n\n90 minutes + Interval\n\n\n\n\n\nAge recommendation 16+\nContent warnings: sexual and domestic violence\, suicide\, substance abuse\, foul language

SUMMARY:George Michael 'This is My Culture (TIMC)'
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the now iconic annual Queer party in honour of George Michael\, a coalition of London’s LGBTQIA+ community groups have announced ‘This is My Culture’ 8 to take place on June 15th 2024.\nThis will be the 8th anniversary of the legendary party set up after the artist’s death in 2016 to celebrate his birthday in June. ‘This is My Culture 8’ is a ‘free party and protest to remember the Queer Icon’s\, life\, talent and courage in celebrating sexual freedom. The party is named after the moment George was taking a late-night stroll on Hampstead Heath when he was ambushed by a photographer from the News of the World and responded with “Are you gay? No? Then fuck off! This is my culture!”. Just one example of how George Michael helped millions to re-evaluate and transform how they saw and embraced sexuality. \nThe ‘This is My Culture 8’ theme is a tribute to George’s most political song ‘Shoot the Dog’ and to celebrate George Michael as an Anti-War hero. Opening speeches will include trailblazing activists and artists from ‘Queers for Palestine’ and ‘Lesbians and Gays Support the Migrants.’ Profits from the party will go to ‘Freedom Flotilla’. \nThe 8th anniversary event’s key messages to exist are  \n1. An end to all British weapon deals to Israel. \n2. An end to the ‘Rwanda Plan’ and deportation of all migrants. \n3. Ceasefire – cut the carbon footprint of UK support for war in Palestine and Ukraine

SUMMARY:Queer House Party URL Livestream
DESCRIPTION:Since its inception\, Queer House Party has been pushing boundaries when it comes to accessibility in the club space.  \nNow\, partnering with CastRooms\, their livestream experience revolutionises access to live music\, allowing fans to participate in events from home. This immersive and high-quality experience is accessible to anyone with a computer or phone and an internet connection\, no matter where they are in the world or the situation they are in.  \nCastRooms has developed Videocrowd™ technology to allow fans not only to watch but also join on camera and truly participate in events from afar. It brings the online attendees into the room at the venue\, blurring the lines between home and being in the heart of the action. \n“During a time when many feel isolated\, the platform offers a space to gather\, celebrate\, and share music experiences” says Mitali\, Co-Founder and CEO of CastRooms. “It’s about more than just watching a show; it’s about being included\, living the moment with others\, and sharing your energy with your community.” \nThis edition\, Queer House Party will be pulling no punches for their show at No.90 in Hackney Wick. On the lineup is; lauded drag troupe Pecs\, who’ll be performing their show Black is King\, QHP’s infamous selection of raunchy gogo dancers\, and a live show from Giac De Castro\, hot off a single release. DJs Princess Julia\, UOKHUN?\, Donnie Sunshine and a secret headliner.  \nHighlights from previous broadcast collaborations include their recent Palestine Fundraiser with I. JORDAN taking to the decks\, the first-ever live-streamed set from Body Movements\, and a jaw-dropping number of ‘What’s Up?’ by Sadie Sinner\, followed by an impromptu Haus of Telfar ball at their inaugural edition of their residency at No. 90.  \nInitially developed as a social lifeline for isolated queer people during COVID\, Queer House Party’s live streams quickly became infamous. They created memorable and special moments for 1000s of people each week. genius new kinds of drag performances\,   \nWith the government announcing that on 1 April\, it will treat COVID as any other acute respiratory infection and\, more recently\, that it plans to ‘cut down PIP expenditure’\, which will severely affect the lives of millions of people across the UK. As the government withdraws this support\, QHP will continue to provide its livestream service for those forced to isolate or for those who live outside of London. \nCrucially\, in a society with increasing transphobic violence in the streets\, as well as a continued stigma and violence from the families of gay\, queer and trans people\, Queer House Party found that for many\, being able to access queer spaces from the safety of someone’s own bedroom was vital for many queers across the world. For someone who might have been locked down with homophobic parents\, a community was opened up to them where they could express themselves or for someone living in a country where being queer is punishable by death\, there is a way to safely engage in an affirming experience.  \nSign up now in advance at castrooms.com/qhp to secure your spot and receive the join link! SUMMARY:Launch of FREAKSLAW by Jane Flett
DESCRIPTION:It’s the summer of ’97 and the Scottish town of Pitlaw is itching for change. \nEnter the Freakslaw – a travelling funfair populated by deviant queers\, a contortionist witch\, the most powerful fortune teller\, and other architects of mayhem. It doesn’t take long for the Freakslaw folk to infiltrate Pitlaw’s grey world\, where the town’s teenagers – none more so than Ruth and Derek – are seduced by neon charms and the possibility of escape. \nBut beneath it all\, these newcomers are harbouring a darker desire: revenge. \nAnd as tensions reach fever pitch between the stoic locals and the dazzling intruders\, a violence that’s been simmering for centuries is about to be unleashed… \nDescribed by Chelsea G. Summers as “the glittery punk offspring of Katherine Dunn’s Geek Love and Angela Carter’s Nights at the Circus”\, Freakslaw is a queer literary horror about chosen family and the risks it takes to become the person you want to be. \nJane will be in conversation with So Mayer about toxic masculinity\, maximalist joy\, and the importance of queer excess. The night will feature a reading\, discussion\, audience Q&A and book signing.

SUMMARY:Queer Edge Live
DESCRIPTION:Queer Edge provides inclusive safe spaces for London’s queer community\, irrespective of age\, gender or sexual orientation. \nQE have been throwing queer parties on the first Friday of every month\, filling the gap between a bar and a rave\, since we launched Summer 2023. Through this experience we have been listening to the crowd’s feedback and identifying the wants of our community. \nFrom this\, the idea QE LIVE was born; a new queer live music night in Hackney Wick. \nDesigned to be the perfect midweek mate and date hangout\, QE LIVE will champion emerging artists from the LGBTQIA community and its allies. The regular monthly event will be packed with exciting LIVE music\, dance\, art and comedy and is scheduled for the last Wednesday of every month at Nico’s Cocktail bar in Hackney Wick. \nQueer Edge’s founder Emma-Jane Nutbrown says her bringing live music and entertainment events to the area is “in response to the massive appetite for more queer events in Hackney Wick – an area of London synonymous with creativity and expression”. She adds\, “QE LIVEs will give a platform to our talented local queer artists\, whilst creating another hangout spot for our local queer community. We’re promising fun vibes and a fresh new way for artists and audiences to connect through the magic of live entertainment”. \nKickstarting the launch with a STUNNER of a line-up\, live entertainment on Weds 31 July will include everyone’s favourite BABY from Ru Pauls Drag Race\, Queer Edge’s own queen-host and poet Ashley\, acoustic singer/songwriter Esther Turner\, the hilarious queer comedy queen Ella Evans\, Al Coffey who played at QEs debut and is back by popular demand\, and Sir Jude celebrating her album release “Revelations” unravelling internalised misogyny and discovery of the self. \nEVERY last Wednesday of the month\, starting on Weds 31 July. \nQueer Edge has been operating a pay-what-you-can admission system so everyone can afford to join in the fun\, keeping inclusivity at the heart of what they do. That said\, they respectfully ask if donations for QE LIVE could start from a tenner\, to help them cover what’s going to be a spectacular evening\, whilst capacity is much smaller than their regular parties and the line up much bigger. If it is too expensive please message QE\, as accessibility remains one of the most important values to them. QE also offer pay-it-forward tickets on our website for those feeling generous.
