SUMMARY:Lesbian Visibility Week 2023
DESCRIPTION:Lesbian Visibility Week aims to show our solidarity with all LGBTQI woman and non binary people in the community\, as well as celebrate lesbians. It is essential that Lesbian Visibility Week is a voice for unity and lifts up ALL women\, especially those who come from marginalised communities. Recent research (Pride Matters survey\, conducted by Pride In London 2018) has shown that gay women are almost twice as unlikely to be out in the workplace as gay male colleagues.\n\n\n\n\nThere has been a Lesbian Visibility Day since 2008.\n\nBuilding on this\, we want to create a week that recognises\, celebrates and importantly supports lesbian\, bisexual\, transgender and queer women across the UK and beyond to be their true selves at work\, at home and socially. \nLesbian Visibility Week is supported by the Diversity Umbrella Foundation\, Stonewall and DIVA magazine. \nAs the leading LBTQ media group in Europe\, DIVA Media Group reaches an audience of 250\,000 users every month. In our engagement we are increasingly finding LGBTQI women feel that they are misunderstood and under supported.

SUMMARY:Trans+ Pride
DESCRIPTION:London Trans+ Pride (LTP) is the UK’s largest annual demonstration in support of trans\, non-binary\, and gender non-conforming lives. \nLTP was born as\, and now in its fourth year continues to be\, a community-first project. Drawing inspiration from the first ever Pride’s origins at the Stonewall Inn as well as contemporaries (Queer Picnic\, UK Black Pride\, Trans Pride Brighton)\, this project exists to serve many goals but our core mission remains the same as it’s always been – \nTo create a community-facing pride celebration\, organised by and for trans+ and non-binary people\, to highlight their needs\, struggles\, successes\, and experiences in a conversation where often trans+ voices go unheard\, and where they can be themselves without ridicule\, threat\, or vilification.

SUMMARY:Manchester Pride
DESCRIPTION:Queerly Beloved\, we are gathered here today to celebrate the power of love! \nManchester Pride is leading with love this year for our 2023 Parade theme\, Queerly Beloved. Love for ourselves and love for LGBTQIA communities. \nLove is powerful! Acts of love and kindness\, for ourselves and one another\, has the power to resist hate against our communities and drive real change as we strive for LGBTQIA liberation. \nWe’re calling upon our communities to celebrate love in all its forms. By choosing love over hate\, especially for those more marginalised within our communities\, we send a powerful message against the negativity reflected within politics\, the media and harmful legislation. \nThe Parade takes place each year within the heart of Manchester City Centre starting at the junction of Liverpool Road and Deansgate and ending on Fairfield Street. We will release a map of the route on our website ahead of the Parade.

SUMMARY:Stand Against Suella
DESCRIPTION:This week\, Home Secretary Suella Braverman made dehumanising comments attacking LGBTQIA asylum seekers. She argued that facing discrimination or persecution based on sexual orientation should not qualify refugees for asylum. \nThese remarks impinge on fundamental LGBTQIA rights and dignity. We cannot stay silent when a senior government official promotes such harmful views. \nIn collaboration with the African Rainbow Family\, we are organising a protest to stand in solidarity against Braverman’s stance. The demonstration will take place this Sunday\, October 1\, at Parliament Square. \nWe are calling on London’s LGBTQIA community and allies to join us at the protest. By turning up in force\, we can send a powerful message to Suella and the government that they cannot trample LGBTQ+ rights. \nPlease stand with us this Sunday as we stand up for LGBTQ+ rights and community. Together\, we can make our voices heard.

SUMMARY:FutureQueer - created and performed by Alexis Gregory
DESCRIPTION:It’s 2069….and the whole world is queer. \nVoguing and lip syncing are categories in the Olympics. \nThere is a statue of George Michael on Hampstead Heath. \nAnd Starbucks own Pride (boo!). \nForty-six years ago\, in 1977\, setting out to create the sound of the future\, Donna Summer recorded queer anthem ‘I Feel Love’. But what will life REALLY be like for queer people in 2069\, forty-six years from now? \nArmed with a vintage Donna Summer vinyl\, playwright and performer Alexis Gregory decides to find out. ‘FutureQueer’ is part theatre\, stand-up comedy\, DIY queer lecture\, pop-culture commentary\, and meditation on disco music as a metaphor for queer survival. Basically….this show is camp AF. It’s also funny\, moving\, hard hitting\, irreverent\, provocative\, and a very queer romp through an imagined LGBTQ+ future. \nDoors and bar open from 6.30pm. \nThe performance will be followed by a post-show Q&A. \nLimited tickets now available. \nShow runs 70 mins + Q&A. \nMore info on the show here and booking link: \nlink.outsavvy.com/futurequeer

SUMMARY:Still Me - BFI Flare 2024
DESCRIPTION:After the success of 2019’s Transparent Love exhibition at BFI Flare\, leading photographer Amanda Searle has created Still Me\, an original series of beautiful portraits of ordinary people who have lived and are living extraordinary lives. These images approach the subjects with honesty and dignity\, exploring themes of gender and identity through a profoundly human lens. \nAmanda says: “I feel we cannot know or understand fully what it is like to live a transgender life\, unless we are living one\, but we can know and understand people who do. I hope these portraits give a sense of meeting these amazing people. I thank them for sharing time with me\, it has been an honour to get to know them.” \nAll About Trans creates space for dialogue and understanding about trans people building connections and inspiring authentic media content that reflects real-life experiences. The programme is run by award-winning small charity Heard ( Heard.org.uk).
