SUMMARY:Queer and Trans Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Calling all of the LGBTQ+ community – this one is for you! \nJoin Tamsin for one of two weekly queer and trans yoga sessions. \nPricing: \nGeneral Admission £10 \nDiscounted tickets: \nQTIPOC (LGBTQ people of colour) £8 use code QTIPOC8 \nMinimum wage or claiming UC £6 use code YOGA6 \nAbout the class: \nThis class is the energising morning vinyasa flow class. This is a dynamic flowy class with an emphasis on connecting body movement with the breath. Perfect way to wake up the mind and body in the morning ready for the day ahead. Tamsin’s teaching style aims to be inclusive to all people whilst adopting a trauma-informed\, body acceptance approach. She believes in the healing power of connecting to nature through yoga and how this should be accessible to all of us! The class will include asana (yoga postures)\, pranayama (breathing practices) and meditation in order to adopt a true and full yoga experience. This class is suitable for all levels! \nWhy queer and trans specific yoga? \nTamsin says \n“I believe that yoga should be accessible to everybody and as a queer person of colour I understand the feeling of being othered in yoga/wellness/spiritual spaces. So\, I decided to become a yoga teacher with the aim of making yoga more accessible to communities that would not normally enter a yoga studio due to the cis/hetronormative nature of the western wellness world. Yoga has provided me with a great amount of healing and I hope to share this with others that may also benefit from the practice. Our community deserves to have a safe\, supportive and non-judgemental environment where we can allow ourselves to be vulnerable and explore this life changing practice! I would also love to see more sober queer events and spaces focused around improving our wellbeing!”

SUMMARY:Rainbow Retirement Day: Later Life Planning for the LGBTQIA+ Community
DESCRIPTION:Age UK Richmond has organised the Rainbow Retirement Day in partnership with the Landmark Arts Centre. We warmly invite the gay\, lesbian\, bisexual\, transgender and queer community to attend this free event. The purpose of the event is to help you plan for later life. Lasting Power of Attorney and Wills are especially important for same-sex couples and chosen families. Sadly\, older LGBTQIA+ people may not have the legal right to make decisions for beloved life partners in their final days. Solicitors will give talks and advice over Q&A sessions on these topics. There will also be a presentation on Queer History\, reflecting on how far we have come. The Rainbow Retirement Day will also get attendees thinking about choosing an LGBTQIA+ friendly care home. Heartbreakingly\, the older generation can be forced back into the closet in care home settings\, for fear of neglect or even abuse. Our hope is that older LGBTQIA+ people can live happy\, safe authentic lives\, right until the very end of the rainbow. \nOrder of the Day  \n11am Registration and coffee \n11.15 am Talk #1 and Q&A: Wills with Sophie Conrad Jones and Yolanda Mapes from Parsonage & Co Solicitors \n12.00 Break \n12.15 Talk #2 and Q&A: Queer History with Roland Chesters from the Queer Museum \n1.00 Break (soup and light refreshments available to buy from Landmark Art Centre cafe) \n2pm: Talk #3 and Q&A: Lasting Power of Attorney with Nigel George from Garner Hancock Solicitors \n2.45 Break \n3pm Talk #4 and Q&A: Choosing an LGBTQ+ Friendly Care Home with Clare Truscott and Ted Brown from the Not Going in the Care Closet Campaign \n3.45 Close of event \nDuring the breaks\, please visit the stands hosted by charities and collect some literature to take away with you. We also invite you to join in with the communal creative project making a visual\, interactive timeline and vision board that spans Queer History (Past)\, Present Experiences\, and Future Hopes related to aging\, safety\, and LGBTQIA+ identity. It’s part tribute\, part storytelling\, and part future-planning — we welcome your voice.
