This class is suitable for all levels! \nWhy queer and trans specific yoga? \nTamsin says \n“I believe that yoga should be accessible to everybody and as a queer person of colour I understand the feeling of being othered in yoga/wellness/spiritual spaces. So\, I decided to become a yoga teacher with the aim of making yoga more accessible to communities that would not normally enter a yoga studio due to the cis/hetronormative nature of the western wellness world. Yoga has provided me with a great amount of healing and I hope to share this with others that may also benefit from the practice. Our community deserves to have a safe\, supportive and non-judgemental environment where we can allow ourselves to be vulnerable and explore this life changing practice! I would also love to see more sober queer events and spaces focused around improving our wellbeing!”

The class will include asana (yoga postures)\, pranayama (breathing practices) and meditation in order to adopt a true and full yoga experience. SUMMARY:Queer Edge Live
DESCRIPTION:Queer Edge provides inclusive safe spaces for London’s queer community\, irrespective of age\, gender or sexual orientation. \nQE have been throwing queer parties on the first Friday of every month\, filling the gap between a bar and a rave\, since we launched Summer 2023. Through this experience we have been listening to the crowd’s feedback and identifying the wants of our community. \nFrom this\, the idea QE LIVE was born; a new queer live music night in Hackney Wick. \nDesigned to be the perfect midweek mate and date hangout\, QE LIVE will champion emerging artists from the LGBTQIA community and its allies. The regular monthly event will be packed with exciting LIVE music\, dance\, art and comedy and is scheduled for the last Wednesday of every month at Nico’s Cocktail bar in Hackney Wick. \nQueer Edge’s founder Emma-Jane Nutbrown says her bringing live music and entertainment events to the area is “in response to the massive appetite for more queer events in Hackney Wick – an area of London synonymous with creativity and expression”. She adds\, “QE LIVEs will give a platform to our talented local queer artists\, whilst creating another hangout spot for our local queer community. We’re promising fun vibes and a fresh new way for artists and audiences to connect through the magic of live entertainment”. \nKickstarting the launch with a STUNNER of a line-up\, live entertainment on Weds 31 July will include everyone’s favourite BABY from Ru Pauls Drag Race\, Queer Edge’s own queen-host and poet Ashley\, acoustic singer/songwriter Esther Turner\, the hilarious queer comedy queen Ella Evans\, Al Coffey who played at QEs debut and is back by popular demand\, and Sir Jude celebrating her album release “Revelations” unravelling internalised misogyny and discovery of the self. \nEVERY last Wednesday of the month\, starting on Weds 31 July. \nQueer Edge has been operating a pay-what-you-can admission system so everyone can afford to join in the fun\, keeping inclusivity at the heart of what they do. That said\, they respectfully ask if donations for QE LIVE could start from a tenner\, to help them cover what’s going to be a spectacular evening\, whilst capacity is much smaller than their regular parties and the line up much bigger. If it is too expensive please message QE\, as accessibility remains one of the most important values to them. QE also offer pay-it-forward tickets on our website for those feeling generous.

SUMMARY:Launch of FREAKSLAW by Jane Flett
DESCRIPTION:It’s the summer of ’97 and the Scottish town of Pitlaw is itching for change. \nEnter the Freakslaw – a travelling funfair populated by deviant queers\, a contortionist witch\, the most powerful fortune teller\, and other architects of mayhem. It doesn’t take long for the Freakslaw folk to infiltrate Pitlaw’s grey world\, where the town’s teenagers – none more so than Ruth and Derek – are seduced by neon charms and the possibility of escape. \nBut beneath it all\, these newcomers are harbouring a darker desire: revenge. \nAnd as tensions reach fever pitch between the stoic locals and the dazzling intruders\, a violence that’s been simmering for centuries is about to be unleashed… \nDescribed by Chelsea G. Summers as “the glittery punk offspring of Katherine Dunn’s Geek Love and Angela Carter’s Nights at the Circus”\, Freakslaw is a queer literary horror about chosen family and the risks it takes to become the person you want to be. \nJane will be in conversation with So Mayer about toxic masculinity\, maximalist joy\, and the importance of queer excess. The night will feature a reading\, discussion\, audience Q&A and book signing.

SUMMARY:Queer House Party URL Livestream
DESCRIPTION:Since its inception\, Queer House Party has been pushing boundaries when it comes to accessibility in the club space.  \nNow\, partnering with CastRooms\, their livestream experience revolutionises access to live music\, allowing fans to participate in events from home. This immersive and high-quality experience is accessible to anyone with a computer or phone and an internet connection\, no matter where they are in the world or the situation they are in.  \nCastRooms has developed Videocrowd™ technology to allow fans not only to watch but also join on camera and truly participate in events from afar. It brings the online attendees into the room at the venue\, blurring the lines between home and being in the heart of the action. \n“During a time when many feel isolated\, the platform offers a space to gather\, celebrate\, and share music experiences” says Mitali\, Co-Founder and CEO of CastRooms. “It’s about more than just watching a show; it’s about being included\, living the moment with others\, and sharing your energy with your community.” \nThis edition\, Queer House Party will be pulling no punches for their show at No.90 in Hackney Wick. On the lineup is; lauded drag troupe Pecs\, who’ll be performing their show Black is King\, QHP’s infamous selection of raunchy gogo dancers\, and a live show from Giac De Castro\, hot off a single release. DJs Princess Julia\, UOKHUN?\, Donnie Sunshine and a secret headliner.  \nHighlights from previous broadcast collaborations include their recent Palestine Fundraiser with I. JORDAN taking to the decks\, the first-ever live-streamed set from Body Movements\, and a jaw-dropping number of ‘What’s Up?’ by Sadie Sinner\, followed by an impromptu Haus of Telfar ball at their inaugural edition of their residency at No. 90.  \nInitially developed as a social lifeline for isolated queer people during COVID\, Queer House Party’s live streams quickly became infamous. They created memorable and special moments for 1000s of people each week. genius new kinds of drag performances\,   \nWith the government announcing that on 1 April\, it will treat COVID as any other acute respiratory infection and\, more recently\, that it plans to ‘cut down PIP expenditure’\, which will severely affect the lives of millions of people across the UK. As the government withdraws this support\, QHP will continue to provide its livestream service for those forced to isolate or for those who live outside of London. \nCrucially\, in a society with increasing transphobic violence in the streets\, as well as a continued stigma and violence from the families of gay\, queer and trans people\, Queer House Party found that for many\, being able to access queer spaces from the safety of someone’s own bedroom was vital for many queers across the world. For someone who might have been locked down with homophobic parents\, a community was opened up to them where they could express themselves or for someone living in a country where being queer is punishable by death\, there is a way to safely engage in an affirming experience.  \nSign up now in advance at castrooms.com/qhp to secure your spot and receive the join link! Tickets for the URL party are available for £5\, and we also offer free tickets for community members who want to participate but can’t afford to.  \nImage: @courteneyfrisby
