SUMMARY:The Good Women
DESCRIPTION:After it’s premiere at VAULT Festival\, transfer to Greenwich Theatre and a sold-out UK and Ireland tour\, “The Good Women” returns to London! \nIt’s the 1960s\, the world is changing. Protesters take the streets\, hippies celebrate free love and a young band called “The Beatles” is rising to fame. Not in Switzerland\, where women still don’t have the vote (and would not get it until 1971) and are legally confined to kitchen and household. Bette\, the star of a regional TV cooking show\, and Trudy\, a housewife\, are about to change that. \n“The Good Women” is a new\, funny\, bold and romantic play written\, performed and directed by an all-female team from the UK\, Ireland and Europe. It is inspired by a true story and brings an overlooked chapter of women’s history to the stage. \n⭐⭐⭐⭐ \n“Good Women Arts’ poignant two-hander depicts burgeoning love against a backdrop of political struggle. Simply staged\, the romcom plot balances witty humour\, social injustice & emancipation” – Fringe Biscuit \n“The Good Women is a play on a fringe and festival scale which thinks big. It tells a nuanced story against a historic backdrop. The story and characters have room to breathe and develop.”– Salterton Arts Review \n“The two characters are very effectively played. It is an encouragement to continue the fight for change.”– British Theatre Guide \nhttps://www.instagram.com/goodwomenarts/ \nWednesday 5 to Saturday 8 June – 7:30pm\nPlus a matinee on Saturday 8 June – 3:00pm \nWednesday 12 to Saturday 15 June – 7:30pm\nPlus a matinee on Saturday 15 June – 3:00pm \nPost show Q & As with director Sophie Marsden and cast members Faith McCune and Lena Liedl on Wednesday 5 June and Wednesday 12 June \n\nRunning time:\n\n90 minutes + Interval\n\n\n\n\n\nAge recommendation 16+\nContent warnings: sexual and domestic violence\, suicide\, substance abuse\, foul language
