SUMMARY:Ania Magliano and Heidi Regan Edinburgh previews
DESCRIPTION:Ania Magliano and Heidi Regan present a double bill of Edinburgh previews at the Village Soho\, just before they head north to Scotland. \nAnia Magliano: Absolutely No Worries If Not (Work in Progress) \n50% Polish\, 50% Italian\, 100% legend. Ania Magliano’s debut show tackles the stuff that matters: LUSH\, horse girls\, and buying a cat off Gumtree. \nLeicester Comedy Festival Best New Show Winner 2022. Writer for Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date. As seen on The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV2) & Dave Online. \n“Already has the cool\, calm and collected stage presence of a standup veteran” Guardian \n“A finesse usually seen after decades in the game” Diva Mag \nCome if you want to\, but absolutely no worries if not. \nHeidi Regan: Work in Progress \nHaving had very limited experience in committed relationships\, Heidi moved in with her girlfriend and began looking into parenthood minutes before a global pandemic kicked off. As things get serious\, an increasingly hopeless Heidi tries to support her NHS girlfriend via her usual tactics of telling very bad jokes and making niche pop culture references that never land. It has mixed results. \nHeidi has two of the most prestigious comedy awards under her belt; the So You Think You’re Funny? title at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016 and has supported the likes of Joe Lycett\, Phil Wang\, Milton Jones\, Tom Houghton\, Tez Ilyas and The Guilty Feminist on tour. \n‘Multitude of laugh-out moments’ ★★★★★ Scottish Daily Mail \n‘A show that is smart\, positive and personal while being consistently funny’ ★★★★ Shortcom

SUMMARY:I\, Joan at The Globe Theatre
DESCRIPTION:A cry for courage erupts in the Globe Theatre this summer with the premiere of I\, Joan\, a powerful and joyous new play which tells Joan of Arc’s story anew. \nThe men are all fighting\, again. An endless war. From nowhere\, an unexpected leader emerges. Young\, poor and about to spark a revolution. This is Joan. \nRebelling against the world’s expectations\, questioning the gender binary\, Joan finds their power and their belief spreads like fire. \nJoin us in the wooden ‘O’ and feel the heat of the sun and the pulse of Joan’s passion. With open hearts and raised voices\, dance and cheer with us as we rediscover Joan’s story. It’s alive\, queer and full of hope. \nWritten by Charlie Josephine (Bitch Boxer) and directed by Ilinca Radulian (Co-Director\, Richard III\, Globe). \n Content guidance: This production contains loud noises and music\, strong language and swearing throughout\, partial nudity\, references to sexual abuse\, misgendering\, and depictions of war and violence.

SUMMARY:FutureQueer - created and performed by Alexis Gregory
DESCRIPTION:It’s 2069….and the whole world is queer. \nVoguing and lip syncing are categories in the Olympics. \nThere is a statue of George Michael on Hampstead Heath. \nAnd Starbucks own Pride (boo!). \nForty-six years ago\, in 1977\, setting out to create the sound of the future\, Donna Summer recorded queer anthem ‘I Feel Love’. But what will life REALLY be like for queer people in 2069\, forty-six years from now? \nArmed with a vintage Donna Summer vinyl\, playwright and performer Alexis Gregory decides to find out. ‘FutureQueer’ is part theatre\, stand-up comedy\, DIY queer lecture\, pop-culture commentary\, and meditation on disco music as a metaphor for queer survival. Basically….this show is camp AF. It’s also funny\, moving\, hard hitting\, irreverent\, provocative\, and a very queer romp through an imagined LGBTQ+ future. \nDoors and bar open from 6.30pm. \nThe performance will be followed by a post-show Q&A. \nLimited tickets now available. \nShow runs 70 mins + Q&A. \nMore info on the show here and booking link: \nlink.outsavvy.com/futurequeer

SUMMARY:Dragbaby
DESCRIPTION:‘All you have to do is spunk into a little pot. I’m not asking you to do anything hard.’ \nDan\, a misanthropic drag queen in his mid-thirties\, only has one thing on his mind – to get on tv and become famous. That is until Sally\, his estranged ex-girlfriend\, reappears and asks him to donate sperm so she and her girlfriend can have a baby. \nAs Dan grapples with this decision\, the pair rekindle their friendship\, causing a strain in his relationship with drag mentee Nathan. \nA hilarious and heart-warming new play about queer friendship and chosen family. \nDrag Baby returns following a 5-star run at the King’s Head Theatre in 2022. \nGrace Carroll’s second play follows her critically-acclaimed Wet which played to sold out audiences at Theatre N16 and Perdu Theatre Amsterdam. \nDirected by Joseph Winer whose previous production of Louis Emmitt Stern’s I F*cked You in My Spaceship won the Origins Award for Outstanding New Work at VAULT Festival before transferring to Soho Theatre last year. \n’Drag Baby is a truly impressive play’ ★★★★★ LondonTheatre1

SUMMARY:The Good Women
DESCRIPTION:After it’s premiere at VAULT Festival\, transfer to Greenwich Theatre and a sold-out UK and Ireland tour\, “The Good Women” returns to London! \nIt’s the 1960s\, the world is changing. Protesters take the streets\, hippies celebrate free love and a young band called “The Beatles” is rising to fame. Not in Switzerland\, where women still don’t have the vote (and would not get it until 1971) and are legally confined to kitchen and household. Bette\, the star of a regional TV cooking show\, and Trudy\, a housewife\, are about to change that. \n“The Good Women” is a new\, funny\, bold and romantic play written\, performed and directed by an all-female team from the UK\, Ireland and Europe. It is inspired by a true story and brings an overlooked chapter of women’s history to the stage. \n⭐⭐⭐⭐ \n“Good Women Arts’ poignant two-hander depicts burgeoning love against a backdrop of political struggle. Simply staged\, the romcom plot balances witty humour\, social injustice & emancipation” – Fringe Biscuit \n“The Good Women is a play on a fringe and festival scale which thinks big. It tells a nuanced story against a historic backdrop. The story and characters have room to breathe and develop.”– Salterton Arts Review \n“The two characters are very effectively played. It is an encouragement to continue the fight for change.”– British Theatre Guide \nhttps://www.instagram.com/goodwomenarts/ \nWednesday 5 to Saturday 8 June – 7:30pm\nPlus a matinee on Saturday 8 June – 3:00pm \nWednesday 12 to Saturday 15 June – 7:30pm\nPlus a matinee on Saturday 15 June – 3:00pm \nPost show Q & As with director Sophie Marsden and cast members Faith McCune and Lena Liedl on Wednesday 5 June and Wednesday 12 June \n\nRunning time:\n\n90 minutes + Interval\n\n\n\n\n\nAge recommendation 16+\nContent warnings: sexual and domestic violence\, suicide\, substance abuse\, foul language

SUMMARY:Cardion Nights: Queer Performance for akt
DESCRIPTION:Cardion Nights\, presented by Cardion Arts and ICA\, platforms new and existing performance-based work by artists working across poetry\, music and visual art. Curated by Gemma Rolls-Bentley\, this one-night-only event creates a powerful space for the transformative powers of queer performance whilst raising vital funds for akt – a charity supporting queer and trans homeless youth. Performance artist Ebun Sodipo\, drag and vocal artist Die Lemma (replacing Wet Mess)\, singer Tom Rasmussen\, and movement artists Eve Stainton & Florence Peake\, will come together for what is sure to be a special night. Timed to coincide with Zero Discrimination Day\, this gathering is a call for inclusivity\, compassion\, and community.
