My Sisters’ Tools – A Day of creativity and wellbeing

Join Black Lesbian Warriors (BLW) for sessions on creativity, workshops about health, and wellbeing for older lesbians 40+, who identify as black or of colour.

BLW is pleased to announce:

Dr. Valerie Mason – John: An Award-Winning Author & Expert Motivational Keynote Speaker On Mindfulness, Meditation, & Addiction Recovery, Valerie will open the sessions with a meditation.

Femi Otitoju: Femi is a lifelong activist who has worked as a Diversity and Inclusion specialist for over 40 years. Known for ‘Holding space while women talk’ Femi’s workshop explores the effect of recent anti immigration and anti muslim disturbances, and self care strategies for these challenging times.

Dorothea SmarttPoetry & Wellbeing:  Dorothea Smartt’s  poetry receives critical attention in Britain, Europe, the Caribbean, and the USA. Acknowledged as tackling multi-layered cultural myths and the real life experiences of Black women with searing honesty, her workshop will promote creativity and insight.

Sutara Gayle – Finding your passion drama workshop: Using drama techniques & games, Sutara helps to explore latent talents and enable you to build confidence, self-empowerment and reignite your sense of fun.

Funmilola Aroun:  Funmilola is a certified Sound Therapist, Meditation teacher & Self care advocate who facilitates her own safe spaces for people to heal by playing drums, exploring their emotions, thoughts and habits and indulging in the practice of self care.

Nailah- Yoga for the mature body: Nailah enjoys creating a fun and safe space for everyone to cultivate their own yoga journey no matter shape, age or size. This class will be a gentle, relaxing and restoratative flow.

Debi Lewinson Roberts: Debi works with the bereaved (and pre transition) to put together person centred funeral ceremonies and memorials, using culture, tradition and spirituality. Inspired by Audre Lorde’s words, her workshop reflects on life, legacy and the future.

Wendy Evans: Wendy is a qualified Reiki practitioner. Her workshop will show you how to access self care through connecting more deeply with your body.

BLW will provide all materials required and light refreshments.

The venue is St Ethelburga’s near Liverpool Street. This is a smaller more intimate event, and the gardens will also be available.
