Young Miko is a Puerto Rican rapper and singer-songwriter who is creating waves of gay panic across the world. Her full name is María Victoria Ramírez de Arellano Cardona, and she started uploading her music on SoundCloud in 2018. Since then, her talent has not gone unnoticed. The openly lesbian musician – who now has over 7 million Instagram followers – creates a safe place for her listeners and fans. Young Miko has 21 million monthly listeners, and I know that number is going to soar over the course of next year. So, if she’s been flying under your radar until now, here are some things to know.

She’s a Scorpio

The 27-year-old rising star was born on 8 November 1997 in Añasco, Puerto Rico.

Fans love her “bromance” with queer popstar Billie Eilish

She recently performed as the opening act for Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard And Soft tour in the US. During the tour, she performed her single Likey Likey and the crowd erupted with excitement.

Her stage name derives from her passion for anime

In Japanese, “Mi” translates to beautiful and “Ko” is a suffix of girls’ names, also meaning “daughter of
God”.

She’s collaborated with an impressive range of talent

Young Miko has worked with the likes of Bad Bunny and, closer to home, Central
C. But when she featured in Karol G ft. Tiesto’s music video, Contigo, the internet went
wild. Young Miko and Karol G acted as lovers in the music video which caused gay panic among WLW viewers. Young Miko has also featured alongside Kany Garcia in her song and music video, En Esta Boca, which radiates a similar feeling to her other music videos.

Young Miko is a talent; she has come a long way from where she started. I know that her music will take the world by storm. So, if you want to improve your Spanish while listening to some bangers with a sapphic theme, go and stream Young Miko.

Young Miko’s latest album, Do Not Disturb, released on 7 November and is available to listen to now on your preferred streaming platform.
