This is the best season for cosy dates!

September is here and that means autumn is here. If you’re a lesbian or sapphic who’s looking for some date inspo, I’ve got you covered.

I’m Sofie Roos, a licensed sexologist and relationship therapist, as well as author for Passionerad – a Swedish based online magazine covering sex and relationships, and I’m here to share my top sapphic date ideas for those wanting to make this autumn the most romantic they’ve ever had.

Build a fort under the table using blankets and pillows and have a picnic

Let your inner child out and build a cosy fort under your table using all the pillows and blankets you can find. Then bring a picnic in there and a laptop with a good movie on. Or, if you’re wanting screen free time, why not try a board game?

Have a series marathon

Order food, get your favourite snacks and lounge on the sofa together and put on that series you’ve been wanting to watch together for a really long time. Also, prepare tons of candles and get dressed in your comfiest clothes for more fuzzy and cosy vibes.

Read a book for each other

Make two cups of tea (or your hot beverage of choice), pick a book that the two of you are interested in, and then take turns reading chapters to each other out loud while lying close on the sofa or the bed. You can also do this in a park on a sunny day, or on a calm outdoor seating area outside your favourite café or pub!

Go to a farmers’ market and get groceries for a home-cooked meal

Purchase seasonal ingredients at a local farmers’ market (that’s a date itself), and then cook a well-made meal while drinking some beer or wine and listening to your favourite music. Let the cooking take time and make it a part of the date, even if you’re not normally into cooking.

Make each other drinks

Get ingredients for drinks and be each other’s bartender, and then rate the drinks, all while sharing a charcuterie board. This will turn out to be a fun, romantic and memorable evening – no matter if you make the drinks with or without alcohol.

Find some outdoor seating – even if it’s cold

Many people stay away from outdoor seating and sidewalk cafés as soon as the summer’s over, but getting warmly dressed and ordering some hot chocolate or an Irish Coffee and sitting there and holding hands while watching people in the crispy air IS amazing.

Make each other a painting

Get two canvases and some colour, and make each other a painting while being in the same room full of candles and great music. You can also set an alarm, such as at 30 minutes, and when it rings, you swap paintings and finish what your partner has started – making it a mix between your styles, and a very special painting connected to your special relationship.
