Australian drummer G Flip has opened up about the ups and downs of their IVF experience with partner Chrishell Stause, touching on the heavy emotional side of the journey to expanding their family.
In a queer love story that has captured hearts since the very beginning, the relationship between G Flip and Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause has been nothing short of iconic – from getting married in Las Vegas alongside an Elvis impersonator and Stause’s cameo in G Flip’s steamy music video, to their tradition of legendary Halloween outfits (recreating Troye Sivan’s One Of Your Girls video? Wow.).
But recently, the couple have shown a different side to their relationship, opening up about their fertility struggles as they embark on their journey to have children.
On the No Filter Podcast with Kate Longbroek, G Flip candidly spoke about their experience with IVF, highlighting the significant emotional toll that often accompanies the process. They stated that there have been “so many ups and downs” and “hopeful moments, and then sad moments”. They described the last few years as having been rough, and while there can be momentary episodes of success and relief, these can often be short-lived.
“[…] There’s a little bit of hope, and then it all backfires, and then it’s going and starting again.”
Chrishell has also been very honest about her experience, admitting that her next round of IVF could be her final attempt at growing her family in this particular way with G Flip. She took to Instagram to bravely outline her feelings, writing: “Back on the IVF hell train. I think this may be my last attempt. There are other alternatives, but this route needed to be tried first bc of timing. So, if it’s meant to be it will be. If not, pivot.”
Stause’s remarkable positivity in the face of such cruel heartbreak is testament to her strong-willed attitude, something that G Flip praised in the podcast.
“I admire everything and how strong she is and how she’s taking all the news that we get. She’s so amazing, and she’s such a brilliant and strong human being for everything she’s gone through. Not only with this whole process we’re going through, but also her whole life.”
Through continuing to openly share their journey, Chrishell and G Flip are creating conversation on LGBTQIA+ family planning and destigmatising alternative pathways to having children. And that’s just the type of icons they are.
