Writer Tricia Cooke has teased a third film to conclude her “Lesbian B-Movie Trilogy”, and we couldn’t be more ready!
Last year saw the release of the first film in the queer trilogy, Drive-Away Dolls. The story followed a road trip gone wrong for two lesbian best friends when they somehow got involved with a criminal group. The second chapter is the very soon-to-be premiering Honey Don’t!, a mystery where private investigator, Honey, explores a death with links to a mysterious cult.
Cooke revealed that the final film is titled Go Beavers and told NBC News it will be about: “a crew team who gets together for their reunion, and they start dying off one by one.” Cooke also announced that she is beginning to develop the film with her husband, Ethan Coen, who will also be co-writing and directing the film.
The film, however, will not lean too much into horror, as Cooke states her inspiration for the film was the 1971 Australian survival film Walkabout. Cooke explains: “That film is whoa, psychedelic. What is life? It has a little more depth, so we’re thinking about taking it in that direction.”
Star in both Drive-Away Dolls and Honey Don’t!, Margaret Qualley, sings the couple’s praises, admitting that working with the two has been “unlike anything else I’ve ever known. They respect and love each other so much. I love the world that they’re living in.”
Currently, the actor reveals she is in the dark: “I have not read a script, and I haven’t been contacted. But let the record show that if I’m not in [the third film], I will be offended and I will be upset.” We’ll never say no to another; bring on the final chapter.
