We’re now officially taking our exit from summer and returning to autumn, making it the perfect time to watch enough TV to forget that the temperature is significantly dropping. This month, we have all things spooky, sexy and funny to look forward to with the return of fan-favourite shows and exciting new film releases. Here are some of the sapphic releases that you should add to your watchlist.

The Pickup

6 August

Where to watch: Amazon Prime

In The Pickup on Amazon Prime, Keke Palmer steals the show as a criminal mastermind. A certified queer icon, Keke serves looks, laughs and iconic energy, making this heist comedy a must-watch. Think Ocean’s Eleven meets girl crush central. We’re obsessed.

Wednesday season two

6 August

Where to watch: Netflix

In Wednesday season two, queer chaos brews as Heather Matarazzo joins the Nevermore crew, bringing sapphic sparkle and gothic wit. With Wednesday’s heart caught between mystery and moonlight, expect brooding glances, lots of great outfits and some more iconic Jenna Ortega moments. It’s spooky, potentially sapphic and sensational.

Taurasi

7 August

Where to watch: Amazon Prime

Bold, brazen and brilliant – Diana Taurasi is the ultimate G.O.A.T. of women’s basketball, and this doc captures her incredible career. Expect fierce game‑face action, playful grit and candid confessions from teammates.

Peacemaker season two

21 August

Where to watch: HBO

We all fell in love with Danielle Brooks’ lesbian character Leota in season one of this DC Comics spin off show. In this new season, we can expect to see the team face new supernatural threats while continuing their morally grey missions.

Long Story Short

22 August

Where to watch: Netflix

In Long Story Short, time bends and family fractures as Abbi Jacobson’s Shira Schwooper navigates decades of sibling drama, heartbreak and cosmic timing. With wit as dry as a martini and heartbreak layered like a kugel, this animated saga turns memory into art.

Honey Don’t (US release)

22 August

Where to watch: In cinemas

In Honey Don’t!, Margaret Qualley embodies sleek P.I. Honey O’Donahue, prowling sun‑scorched Bakersfield to unravel cult‑tied murders. With Aubrey Plaza’s cop M.G. at her side, lesbian sleuthing crackles with deadpan wit and pulp flair. It’s camp, crime and queer swagger wrapped into one audacious noir pastiche.
