Back in 2022, Wednesday Adamms – everyone’s favourite morbid big sis from the Addams Family – got reimagined in Tim Burton’s instantly successful Netflix series Wednesday.

The Addams Family has always struck a chord with LGBTQIA+ fans, as evidenced by the Butch for Femme or T4T (trans for trans) couples who dress up as Wednesday’s passionately in love parents Morticia and Gomez Adamms for Halloween. And now, a new generation of queers are falling for the iconic characters. When Jenna Ortega took on the role of the show’s titular character, she further established herself as a queer icon and LGBTQIA+ TikTokers became obsessed with her. Many sapphic fans have also shipped Wednesday with her bestie Enid, however the show is yet to address queerness.

For almost three years, we have been eagerly awaiting to return to Wednesday’s world. Thankfully, our wait is almost over. So let’s take a look at what we know about the show so far.

Warning: spoilers for Wednesday season one are coming.

When will Wednesday season two be released?

The second season will be coming to Netflix in two instalments. Part one will be available to stream on the platform from 6 August, with part two coming out on 3 September. Save the dates!

What will the plot be this time around?

The official synopsis reads: “Wednesday Addams returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery. Creator/showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar return for the spine-tingling second season of Wednesday, alongside executive producer and director Tim Burton.”

“Nothing is what it seems in season two,” creator Miles Millar told Tudum. “Wednesday goes into this season thinking she knows Nevermore. It’s the first time she’s returned to a school willingly. But as soon as she gets back, nothing happens that she’s expecting. She thinks she’s going to be in control, that she knows where all the bodies are buried, and she doesn’t.”
