Five years after the release of their first self-titled EP back in 2020, the band Shelly released their second EP titled Shelly 2 which includes two songs named Cross Your Mind and Hartwel on 1 July.

In 2020, indie-pop artist Clairo formed the band Shelly along with Claud, Noa Frances Getzug, and Josh Mehling. Later that year, they released their first EP titled Shelly which included their song Steeeam which became a viral hit among the sapphic community on social media platforms. The Juna singer stated: “My best friends and I made a band and put out an A/B side – Steeeam and Natural. We created everything during quarantine in LA, Chicago, Houston, and Atlanta.”

Although the band hasn’t collaborated on a project since being featured on Claud’s sophomore album Super Monster with the song Falling With The Rain back in 2021, band members Clairo and Claud have been working on their solo careers with Clairo’s Grammy-nominated album Charm which includes songs such as Juna and Sexy To Someone and Claud’s latest single titled She’s So Pretty featuring Sedona. However, in April, the band reunited to perform their song Steeeam on stage for Clairo’s Coachella set.

According to sources the two new songs are from the vault, and were both written in 2020. They were both most likely written during the same session as Streeeam. The song Cross Your Mind from the latest EP sounds like it is about facing the ghosts from someone’s past as they return to their hometown and ride their bike down in suburbia as they reminisce about the past and people they used to know. Later they recognise things about their surroundings they have never noticed before.

The EP has a sound similar to the band’s old work which the fans love and it handles topics such as change, remembering old memories, and a longing for the past.
