Rosamund Pike reacts to the cancellation of The Wheel Of Time

The Saltburn actor is among those mourning the loss of the latest in a long line of Prime Video’s LGBTQIA+ shows to get cancelled

Based on the much-loved fantasy series by author Robert Jordan, Prime Video’s adaptation of the novels has earned the admiration of LGBTQIA+ fans from its very first season. The TV show was led by Rosamund Pike as the magical Moiraine Damodred, who is also a sapphic character. The streaming platform announced the cancellation back in May after the third season aired, and the reason was reportedly “financial reasons“.

The actor recently posted a series of BTS images on her Instagram stories. In one of them, was her co-star Sophie Okonedo (who played Moiraine’s romantic partner Siuan Sanche), and Rosamund captioned this image with “How I miss my love”.

In another story, she included a still from the series and wrote: “Finding the power of the sakarnen” and “I will miss the feeling of channelling: Robert Jordan’s idea of connecting so powerfully with the pulse of the universe and having it course through you”.

Both Moiraine and Siuan were members of the all-female Aes Sedai who could channel what was called the “One Power”.

Many queer favourites have been prematurely cancelled on the streaming platform, A League Of Their Own, The Wilds and Paper Girls, to name just a few. And while we’ve come to expect disappointment when it comes to the rising “Cancel Your Gays” trend, it doesn’t mean this latest cancellation hurts any less.

You can still watch all three seasons of The Wheel Of Time on Prime Video.
