We can’t wait to see Mabel and Honoria back on our screens once again

If there’s one thing about sapphics, we love a good historical drama. Apple TV+ has fed our appetite for lesbians in corsets once again with the release of the second series of The Buccaneers

Based on an Edith Wharton novel of the same name, the show follows the lives of five unruly American girls who enter polite British society in the 1870s. From culture clashes to love triangles, the period drama captured audiences’ hearts immediately.

LGBTQIA+ viewers everywhere quickly fell in love with the show’s sapphic storyline between Mabel and Honoria – played by trans icon Josie Totah and Mia Threapleton. The series delves into the often forgotten or erased history of lesbians in the 19th century – reminding us that queer people have existed forever.

In this new series, drama is still very much at the forefront of the show. What will happen as Jinny runs away to escape her abusive husband? Will Nan find happiness in her new marriage and role as the Duchess? And importantly, will we get to see a happy ending for Mabel and Honoria?

Given that the trailer for series two features a slowed down version of Chappell Roan’s hit song Good Luck Babe and some steamy smooches between the sapphic pair, we’ve got our hopes up. But nothing ever seems to run smoothly for this bunch, so we won’t hold our breath.

You can watch season two on Apple TV+ now!
