If you had your queer awakening watching the Barden Bellas in Pitch Perfect, you are not alone. In fact, stars Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp revealed in a recent interview with Pride that “all the Bellas are gay now”.

Ahead of their new summer film Bride Hard, Rebel and Anna both spoke about their experience with sexuality. Anna, who came out in February this year, spoke about the reaction from the LGBTQIA+ community with warmth.

“It’s been really wonderful to be so welcomed and so supported, especially by my really beautiful [and] wonderful friend [Rebel] here. Life is an evolution and I’m very happy where I am today.”

Earlier this year, Anna hard-launched her relationship with stylist Jade Whipkey. Since then, fans have adored seeing this pair’s couple content, most recently Jade’s post for Anna which read: “You are the easiest person to celebrate and the sweetest to love.”

Rebel also spoke about the inherent queerness of the Pitch Perfect franchise. Talking about the iconic “les-be-honest” joke, she said: “I made that joke secretly maybe thinking I was the gay one! Surprise! All the Bellas are gay now! Everyone’s gay. I remember on Pitch Perfect 2, a lot of us girls were having a chat in between takes about sexuality. It was such a kind, honest, open chat. It really meant a lot to me that day on set.”

Since the franchise, Rebel has gone on to showcase her sapphic love to the world, most recently through her gorgeous wedding last year. Speaking about the response she’s had to coming out online, Rebel added: “The support I personally got really makes me emotional because people were so supportive when I came out with my relationship with my now wife Ramona. I don’t think I could have had a better experience. [I’m] just sending love out there to everybody at this important time in history.”

Bride Hard comes out in cinemas on 20 June.
