Right now, we could all do with a little queer joy. Thankfully, Sex And The City star Cynthia Nixon is more than happy to showcase her beautiful romance with her wife Christine Marinoni. As we gear up to see even more of Miranda Hobbes’ dating life in the new season of And Just Like That…, let’s take a look at why Cynthia’s real-life romance is something we can all aspire to.

The pair share the same passions and values

We all know that any good relationship is often laid on the foundations of sharing similar values and passions. Cynthia and Christine certainly have that box ticked considering that they met while campaigning to reduce public school classes in New York in 2001.

In a recent interview with Advocate, Cynthia revealed that this political fire is still very much alive in their relationship today.  “It is a very big love. It’s just a very full partnership. And certainly, it’s a very domestic partnership, but we’re talking politics every day. Not all day, but every day. Some part of the day we’re figuring, we’re strategizing.”

Christine worked on Cynthia’s campaign to run for Governor

A good partner is one that shows up, no matter how stressful times can get. Christine did just that when Cynthia ran for Governor of New York in 2018. Due to her work as a community organiser and activist, Christine was working as a senior advisor for New York Mayor Bill De Blasio but resigned to help Cynthia run for State Governor in 2018.

Cynthia ran as a challenger to the Democratic incumbent Andrew Cuomo and centred her platform on income inequality, universal health care and protecting undocumented children from deportation. She lost the Democratic primary to Andrew Cuomo.

They got engaged at a rally for marriage equality

We love a good sapphic proposal! And what is a more iconic way to engage that at a marriage equality march? The couple said “Yes” at a rally supporting same-sex marriage in New York in 2009. Cynthia even flashed her ring to the crowd and announced that it was “time already”.

The pair post the cutest couple pics

To commemorate their anniversary, Cynthia posted an adorable snap of the pair pretending to be pilots, citing Cristine as “the best co-pilot a girl could ask for”. From travel snaps to theatre pics, date night is definitely a big event in this couple’s life. And we love to see it!
