It’s happening – everyone stay calm! Our favourite chaotic, messy dating show is officially returning for season two, and we’ve got six new couples to meet.
Netflix’s The Ultimatum Queer Love made waves in the sapphic community after the first series blew our socks off with sapphic love, carnage and drama. The concept of the show is fairly simple: six couples come together to see if their relationships can survive the ultimate test. One partner is ready to settle down, the other isn’t quite so sure. The only logical solution? The couples all break up and date each other to see if their relationships can stand this once-in-a-lifetime test.
It’s time to clear your summer calendar – the sapphic gods have answered. The drama will commence once again. Here are the six couples taking part in this new season.
AJ (she/her) and Britney (she/her)
Registered nurse and entrepreneur Britney will be giving her partner AJ the ultimatum in this new series. The pair met in a nightclub, and have been in love for the last five years. While Britney is “ready for the next chapter”, AJ claims that she doesn’t want to come second place to Britney’s business.
Haley (she/her) and Pilar (she/her)
Together for 10 years, food scientist Haley is ready to give Pilar the ultimate ultimatum. Having met at college, they have been “inseparable” ever since. While Haley is ready for an “even deeper commitment”, physical therapist Pilar views marriage as a “pointless” social construct. Her qualms about marriage seem to be exacerbated further by her family not accepting her LGBTQIA identity.
Kyle (she/they) and Bridget (she/they)
Graphic designer Kyle found Bridget on a dating app, and the pair have been together for the last two and a half years. Now, Kyle is ready for marriage, and it’s a “non-negotiable” for them. Bridget, on the other hand, doesn’t see the point in tying the knot, but does see Kyle in their future forever.
Mel (she/her) and Marie (she/her)
Chef Mel has found that food has been the way to her partner Marie’s heart for the last four years. The pair have also launched their own food business. While Marie is ready for the “direction” that marriage can bring, Mel thinks there are a few things they need to sort out first.
Dayna (she/her) and Magan (she/her)
Relationship manager Dayna was obsessed with Magan the minute they met at a bar. The pair have been together for two and a half years. Although Dayna admits she has an avoidant attachment style, she is ready to be more “serious” about her future with Magan. On the other hand, Magan, who has an anxious attachment style, isn’t looking to make a “lifetime commitment”.
Ashley (she/her) and Marita (she/her)
Account manager Ashley and account executive Marita have been together for three years. The pair met while swiping on a dating app, and they have been in love ever since. Ashley issued her ultimatum because she was tired of Marita’s “inconsistency”. However, Marita believes that Ashley isn’t making enough time for romance, and won’t walk down the aisle until she sees some real changes in their relationship.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love season two will be coming out on 25 June.
