Abigail Thorn has revealed that she is currently filming a new role as a trans femme action star. The icon spoke at Trans+ History Week’s (THW) live recording of the QueerAF podcast on 6 May.

Known for her roles as Sharako Lohar (House Of The Dragon) and Ensign Eurus (The Acolyte), Abigail hinted that she is making history as one of the first trans femme actors to play such a role.

“I can’t say what it is, but I am about to start filming a big action thing this summer,” she said at the event. “I’m having boxing lessons and sword fighting lessons like three times a week and like learning to dive across things.”

Following in the footsteps of other trans superheros like Dreamer (Nicole Maines, Supergirl), Abigail is set to provide even more incredible representation for the community at a time where joy is desperately needed.

“I said to the producers when I got it, was like, thank you for giving me this,” she revealed at the THW event. “Because they didn’t write it with a trans woman in mind, they just wrote it. And I said to the producers, thank you for giving me this because the idea that a trans woman can be an action star has not yet occurred to anyone outside of this project. And when it does, it’s going to blow their minds.”

This interview was conducted by none other than Sex Education’s Anthony Lexa, and the live THW Community Event audience got to watch this incredibly candid, powerful discussion. THW (5-11 May) aims to celebrate, remember and learn from the trans, non-binary, gender-diverse and intersex trailblazers of the past. With over 200 people in attendance, the event saw Abigail reveal new, exclusive details about her incredible career.

Speaking about coming out on her YouTube channel, Philosophy Tube, Abigail revealed that she had thought her career would be over. “I came out, and that video trended at number one on YouTube and made headlines in five languages and I thought, ah, that’s gonna be the end of both [YouTube and acting] of my careers now,” she told Anthony.

It’s clear that the reality was quite the opposite. We can’t wait to learn more about Abigail’s new role.
