We’re living in a renaissance for sapphic reality TV. Whether it be Netflix’s beautifully chaotic Ultimatum: Queer Love or BBC’s I Kissed A Girl, we’re no longer having to cringe through Love Island to get our dating show fix. Adding to this stream of sapphic series is South Korea’s first lesbian dating show ToGetHer.

Launched on 25 April on the platform Wavve, ToGetHer is a landmark moment for lesbian representation in South Korea. Taking place on Jeju Island, participants will live in a house together for one week while they get to know each other. From dates to some serious letter writing, the show promises emotional depth from its couples.

ToGetHer follows Wavve’s previous queer reality show called His Man which focused on gay men, released in 2022. After ToGetHer’s release last week, the series has already ranked 14th in viewership on the platform.

South Korea’s attitude to LGBTQIA rights still remains largely conservative, and same-sex marriage is not permitted. Some attitudes are changing, however, thanks to queer visibility from K-pop idols like Holland.

Fans have already been quick to voice their excitement about the series. One user wrote: “I should’ve been in that Korean lesbian dating show I should’ve been there.”

Another said: “so I started watching this Korean lesbian dating show named ToGetHer, and it’s sooooo fvckng cute!!!”

You may be able to watch the show on Rakuten TV. Some international viewers might have to find alternative streaming options or stick to highlights from the show posted on YouTube.
